Social security disability for adhd add people

Has anyone ever applied for social security disability for their child who has had IEPs and adhd,dyslexia,social anxiety, ect? My father is in his 60's he has had dyslexia and adhd and depression his whole life, my father can barely read or barely do math, he got on social security when I was 14, if my father would had gotten it before I turned 14 years old, I to would had gotten benifits under him. I to have had IEPs and 504 plan my whole life. My son is my dad's child. I say this only because his adhd and all of that is exactly to my dad's disabilities to a t. I am hoping that the social security disability approves my son for disability.

From my experience if you live in the US be prepared to appeal. They turn everyone down the first time. I would suggest you get legal counsel to help...I have assisted students in the past and they were denied, then we got legal counsel and we won. One has been using it for the past 5 years. Some day he hope to get a real job, but it is very hard to get approved. Good luck

I live in PA. I was able to get Medicaid benefits for my son (ADHD)- I wouldn’t be approved on finances but he was covered under his disability. They make you also apply for SS benefits when applying for the Medicaid, I wasn’t seeking those benefits but also didn’t receive any due to my income.
