I am new to CHADD as a parent to my 26-year old son with ADHD.
Don't know where to start but looking for coping and communication skills with my son.
I live in Houston, Texas and don't know of any support groups in my area.
Thanks.

My son is 25 and was dx with ADHD at age 8. Is there anything I can help you with? Or we can chat privately!
My daughter is in her mid 30's and both her sons inherited her ADHD/anxiety issues. She has a degree and a god job although every couple of years she will switch because "they don't appreciate her." She is easily agitated so I have learned to watch what I say, mainly no giving advice unless she asks.
Hi! Welcome to the group. I just moved from Houston to Ca. I have been desperate to connect with a parent of an adult child with ADHD. I searched for support there but just could not find it. I wish I had met you when I was there. I have a 21 year old daughter with ADHD Inattentive. However she never showed ANY signs as a child. Her symptoms started when she was 12. She has suffered lots of trauma since that age too. I’m not even sure if her diagnosis is correct. Counselors say ADHD symptoms can be caused by many things. However.... she checks all the boxes and we still struggle with the affects of it. I’m not sure how I can help but I’m happy to listen. Parenting and adult child with ADHD is challenging to say the least. Sharing the struggle helps to remind me that I’m not crazy and not alone. I am sorry that this has been part of your life’s journey. I’m glad you found this forum. It helps. Welcome.
Hello! I am new here, but I understand completely. I have a 22-year-old daughter with ADHD inattentive as well. And it has been a roller coaster ride and still is, to say the least. Each day is a new challenge somehow. Every time I think we are moving in the right direction, something happens to set us back. You are not alone. I am interested in connecting with other parents who have adult children with ADHD. It doesn't just go away once they grow up...always new issues and challenges.
So her kids lived with me for the first 12 years of the oldest one's life. Now she has a home and they live with her most of the time. But I can't make any suggestions about parenting. Last fall she did not talk to me for two months because I tried to make a suggestion for the younger one. So now I bite my tongue.
We actually go out a lot together and have a good time so it is not all bad.
It took her to her late twenties to grow up.
I found this ADHD Life Coaching, Group setting, Virtual meetings danarayburn.com/. They just ended the year. They start again in September.
I'm still looking for a similar one for teens.
Hi. Did you find a support group? I have a 26 year old with ADHD who lives across the country. I am struggling with how to be a support from long distance.
