Hello there- our son is 7.5 years old and have success with his medication, Intuniv 1mgs daily and Strattera 10mgs daily. We did just decrease his Strattera from 18mgs- he was getting super emotional and moody on the 18mgs. I got him on a wait list to be assessed for ASD. I would think that if so, he would be high functioning. Has anyone gone through a ADHD/anxiey diagnosis to find out later that Autism played a role? I feel like we are late to the game to get him assessed but I need to know if it does play a role.
Thanks

I have a friend who is going through the same thing. She's been told ADHD and anxiety, possibly bipolar as well. But -- he has so many autism symptoms, I'm encouraging her to get a second opinion.
My daughter has high functioning autism and ADHD. Took a very long time to diagnose. Most doctors didn't see it, nor evaluate for it. Once we did all the evaluations for ASD and she scored high, giving her a firm diagnosis, we've been able to help her far more effectively.
We looked at ASD first as I have a nephew on the spectrum. We started with a neurologist then we were sent for a neuropsychological. Testing during the neuropsychological revealed it wasn’t ASD but he had ADHD combined type. He was also determined to have some depression and anxiety, but hasn’t been formally diagnosed with those.
We had an ADHD/O.D.D. Diagnosis and then referred for ASD testing/received diagnosis at 11!!! HFASD...and having our fiat go at aba Now that he is 13(3 months on so far)
