We’ve tried Jornay, Adderal, Concerta, intuniv and Strattera for ADHD and all have made her tics more frequent and noticeable. We stopped meds about 3 weeks ago and her tics have returned to being barely noticeable.

Mom to a 7 year old with adhd and dyslexia. He's a sweet and energetic guy who has increasingly become more reactive/aggressive at home and it was becoming pretty unlivable in family life. We have had him on Vyvanse for 3 mos and Intuniv for 1 month. He used to love swimming. We have him in lessons at the same place he has always taken them and now he just sits on the wall and refuses to participate.

We then switched a few months ago to to a non stimulant Intuniv. He tried 1 mg then 2 and now is on 3. We see a therapist like most on this forum. I have no idea what to make of anything. He is like many at a loss for time and moved like a turtle.

Guanfacine (Intuniv) 3. Clonidine (Kapvay) 4. Bupropion (Wellbutrin) 5. Modafinil (Provigil)

Now we are trying the non stimulant route with intuniv 1 mg nightly (insert bed wetting) & no real change of hyperactivity or emotions. My son is ridiculously smart, actually being tested in the gifted and talented group this week at school.

So then we tried Concerta with intuniv for sleep. My son never had issues with sleep but as soon as the meds came along he had sleep issues. He then gained a lot of weight so his self-esteem was shot and he became depressed. So we tried adding a mild anti depressant.

He is off all medication right now except for 1mg Intuniv ER, which we are weaning off of because he can't take that with Prozac. We are suspecting depression, and we need to get his mood in the right place then deal with the ADHD.

My son, 11, was started on Intuniv (guanfacine) 1mg, 9 months ago 1hr before bed. Initially saw great results for ADHD and sleeping however, now we are having horrible sleep problems (takes over an hour to fall asleep, poor quality sleep, very little REM and Deep sleep).

Especially Intuniv I suppose- can’t be even stopped abruptly as can cause dangerous adverse reactions when stopped abruptly …

Any thoughts about Intuniv, any success stories of kids who are on Guanfacine as a sole medication. Any tips, anything to look out for. Any failure stories with this medication. Please do post both good and bad.

How many have took vyvance, Wellbutrin, and Intuniv (guanfacine) together? If you did, how was it?

For those with a child that takes Intuniv and Zoloft do you give both in the morning? My son already takes Intuniv/Guanfacine extended release in the morning (3mg) and we are debating on adding Zoloft to help w some anxiety and also aggression which I feel is anxiety masked by anger.

I am wondering if splitting the Intuniv dose between evening and morning could be effective and help counteract the irritability of the stim more? Drop the stim entirely?

Has anyone had to switch from intuniv and what did you try? Appreciate your help and advice.

Completed GeneSight testing (costs $330 out-of-pocket and NP had to order it) in August 2022 - discovered that Intuniv (Guanfacine ER) is the only ADHD med in the "Green" (aka fewer side effects) category. Qelbree, Concerta, Ritalin, & Focalin all in "Yellow" categories (some side effects).

:) Diagnosis: ADHD + ASD 1 My 6 year old son who is now in 1st grade started Guanfacine ER (Intuniv) in March 2022. Took a while but by May the school and we at home saw improvement in his impulsivity.

He is on intuniv 2mg and it seems to be helping. I've been trying tolook into proper nutrition to hopefully help manage what the intuniv isn't helping.

Hi my 10yo son is on sertraline and intuniv. He went from 1mg to 2mg a couple months ago and I've noticed an increase in his complaints about stomach aches and motion sickness. Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any advice to help alleviate the stomach ache?
