Since starting stimulant medication (methylphenidate) in February, I notice my son has had aversions to foods he previously liked. Initially I thought it was just the appetite suppression that he didn’t want to eat. But today when he had some lemonade, which he used to enjoy, he actually spit it out on the counter because it tasted so gross to him.
Just wondering - anyone else experience this? Can anything be done about it? I hate to lose my previously only non-picky child! (My daughter, on the other hand, has always been a weirdo when it comes to flavors. Lol!)

rckline- thanks for the question. Do you think it could just be that his taste is changing. This happens a lot with our son. He likes somethings and we buy alot of the item, then he doesn't like it soon after he said liked them. Just curious...
You may be right. The “initially liking something new then the next time telling me he doesn’t like it” is also a new thing. I had been writing it off as psychosomatic, but when he literally spat out something I know he really liked not too long ago, it just made me wonder if something else is going on.
I know for my son it is most likely a control thing. He has so little that he can control, one of them being what and how much he puts in his body.
I know that when "defining" ADHD no one talks about all of the food issues: texture, consistancy amount and type are all impacted by the fact he takes medications that surpass his appetite. We try to be patient but strong on "one more bite if you want x". I wonder how children without ADHD act with food..
Just my thoughts and experiences. Good lu k in dealing with it anyway.
I definitely get the little control issues (he has a friend who can’t eat gluten, and now suddenly he doesn’t like toast?! Who doesn’t like toast?) But he was definitely as surprised as I was to dislike the lemonade. Ah well, maybe it’s just a weird kid thing. Lol! Thanks again!
At first my son started doing that then he lost all taste for food couldn't even get him to eat a donut we had to change his medicine because he was losing too much weight
