Hi, my grandson has ADHD and very moody, I made arrangements with the school nurse to give him his medicine when he gets to school because I cant rely on his family to give it to him. I came to his home to find him still sleeping when school has started, got on them to get him up and took his refill of medicine to the school nurse and went to work. I was told that he arrived at the school at 930am and went to the nurse for his meds, she said it is a school policy to give meds 30 min before or 30 min after school, this was never told to me.
He was not given his meds and went downhill from there, it was so bad that he was suspended from school for his outburst and behavior. I was wondering has anyone heard of this rule for medicine at Pasadena School district in Houston Texas.
When I question the nurse a day later she said she didn't want to over medicate him in case he had his medicine for which she could have called an asked and also said that sometime when you give it to them late it makes them sleepy. I would have rather had him sleepy than disruptive and never heard of a time limit to take ADHD medicine.
