7 year old who wont listen

How do you get your 7 year old who has adhd to listen? He wont respect or listen to me but will his dad

I read a psychology study where it noted that kids with ADHD tend to act out less or show less arguing symptoms and obey more with fathers than mothers. The study couldn’t determine why—it said even when there weren’t obvious differences in styles, it happened. And it said it was a common trend for dads to tell psychologists the kid seemed fine and moms to claim their behavior was way outside the norm. It could be as simple as dads are often bigger and have deeper voices, therefore are scarier. No answers there, but some conformation others are in your shoes.

We have the opposite experience in our house. But honestly, my husband has a tone to his voice which I feel is condescending so that probably doesn't help, and the reason he talks back to him :(. We are trying medication now but it makes my son's stomach hurt. But I understand that medication is really the best route if you aren't already doing that.
