Good afternoon. I am just discovering CHADD and this Parents group. I have a 10 year old, soon to be 11 son. Just glancing at some of the posts, I see my sons behavior mentioned in many of them. How do you cope with the increasing belligerence before and after meds? Does the behavior get better? He was diagnosed in 2013 and I resisted meds for about 4 months. Five years later, I have done group, individual behavior therapy, family counseling, etc. Where do I go from here? Yes, I am concerned and confused. He is extremely intelligent, and this year is doing very well with his classes but where from we go from here.

I struggle with the belligerence, too, and hope someone has some good advice (My 10 1/2 year old son takes 36 mg of Concerta and 2 10mg boosters)

Mornings have been a nightmare. I have started walking him up one hour before the alarm and giving him his pill and then letting him go back to sleep. Then it is working when he gets out of bed. This helps most of the time, but not always.

I usually try to get him in bed at night before the medicine wears off completely so it's not a total nightmare putting him to bed.
