My son was diagnosed with ADHD last year. He is now 6 years old. He was having many issues with school including hyperactivity and not responding to his name (which became a safety issue). After trying behavioral techniques and diet changes, with no noted improvement, we began to use Medications. He has been on medications for 3 months. He still has been having trouble in school especially with writing and expressing himself in writing, finishing tasks and following directions. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help him at home improve with this? I know he is only in first grade but I want him to build good habits so he can thrive with ADHD.

Hi, have you tried keeping a bulletin board with a schedule? Also, sports helped my son a lot since he had so much energy. He' 13 now and is doing karate which is good for any child to develop good habits. Does your son have an EIP in school? If not you should find out about it.
Hope this helps.
