Hi, I'm new here. My 7 yr. old daughter was just diagnosed with ADHD. It was recommended I start her on Omega 3 vitamins. Just wanted to know any experiences other parents have had with these vitamins and if they made any difference in your child's behavior/focusing. Thanks so much!

I unfortunately I have not really noticed any difference in behavior with any vitamins. Stimulants have worked great for my 8 yr old. He started them at 6 after we tried several other alternatives. He has very few side effects on them as well.

Hello, what medications have you found effective? Have you noticed a difference between generic and brand in terms of side effects. What dosages. I have a 7 year old daughter who has been diagnosed with ADHD. We are just starting to medicate. Dosage and insurance has been very challenging. Thank you.

My son started Vayarin about 3.5 months ago. We have seen a great improvement of his behavior since he started taking it. It’s only by prescription, and is kinda expensive, but when we tried stopping it (thinking it wasn’t doing much) we saw just how much it was helping.

From their website: “Vayarin® is a proprietary composition containing Phosphatidylserine-omega-3, EPA enriched. EPA is most correlated with behavioral and mood improvement. Our patented composition has been clinically shown to safely and effectively manage ADHD and improve quality of life. Vayarin addresses nutritional deficiencies, specifically lipid deficiencies, not addressed by ADHD drug treatments.”

I am in no way, shape, or form a representative of the company, I don’t get any benefits from recommending them. I just know what has helped my son.

My son takes 1 tsp Nordic naturals fish oil every day… It helps, but not a drastic difference. We still ended up having to use medication for school days He is on a strict diet and takes other supplements as well.

We used a vitamin cocktail called "Smarty Pants" sold at Costco. We could not detect any improvement due to the vitamins. That said, it can't hurt to try and see. Give it a month at least. Every kid is different.

We have been trying it for a little over 6 months and not really seen much improvement. I'm now going to have to try medication and see if that helps her focus issue. We tried everything before deciding on medicating her. But I've read reviews of people having really good luck with it.

I am in the same position for my 8 year old son. I am going to try the vayarin for the summer but if he struggles in the beginning of the next school year I might have to medicate him for the focus issue as well. Im just scared to go down that road. How is it going for you?
