A golden walk šŸŒ…

Itā€™s been a busy couple of days and Iā€™d planned to go for a run after finishing work around lunchtime, I was really tired. Iā€™m pretty sure Iā€™m coming down with something. Had a little walk to the village veg stall and picked up some bits for a curry for dinner. Beautiful weather and fully intended to eat then go out. What happened was I ended up falling asleep for two hours. I must have needed it!

I decided it needed to be a recovery day from running and a walk would be a better idea. Since Iā€™ve been running, I havenā€™t done so many longer walks and Iā€™ve missed it. Heading out around 4.15pm would mean the golden hour before sunset when the light is beautiful. A great decision! Up the hill. The birds were singing and I could hear a football game going on in the grounds of a local hotel. Lovely to see some children having a brilliant time. The view across the valley was lovely. A buzzard on the telegraph pole. Down a hill I often run up. Itā€™s so much nicer this way round and walking! Thereā€™s a clearing where deer often roam but not today.

Looking across the hedgerows, you can see the low sun making them appear to glow.

In the deepest part of the valley, the air feels cold and heavy. I wished Iā€™d bought gloves but at least my jacket has nice, soft pockets. Instead of heading home, I decide to add a loop past some fine looking horses and a farm with alpacas, or llamas. I keep meaning to look up the difference! By now, the sun is setting and the sky is streaked with red. A pheasant runs across the road. Rural traffic at its finest! Two deer are grazing in a far off field. I take a picture but itā€™s a disappointment. Too ā€œspot the subjectā€ for my liking. Ah well! Taking some time to look up. I spot a robin perched on frail branches. He makes for a much nicer phone silhouetted against the sky. One more hill to cross and itā€™s home again.

This was a really satisfying walk of just over an hour. I didnā€™t track it but it got me from 1700 steps to just over 10,000. Very pleased. The veg curry was delicious and a great reward for a great walk.

The picture is of the deer. Good luck spotting them! šŸ¦Œ šŸ¦Œ

Youā€™ve got them! The white patches on their read ends made them stand out more in real life. I love seeing deer-theyā€™re my absolute favourite wildlife to spot.

Weary is a good word! The January/February term is always an absolute grind and itā€™s been one thing after another lately.

I will be sleeping very well tonight. An epic nap, fresh air and some good food has been a great mood booster. Hope itā€™s a good nightā€™s sleep for you too ā¤ļø

A very satisfying wonderful walk for you today MissUnderstanding, apparently the sky both at dawn and at twilight was a little redder today because of Sahara dust in the upper atmosphere due to warm southerly winds, part of west Wales today had a temperature of 16C, this morning I noticed the sky at dawn was a pink glow because of that dust, same in the evening, once again well done on that lovely walk.

That vista is so beautiful!!

I do feel fortunate to live in a time where we can just snap photos so easily with our phones and share them to motivate each other.

I still remember very much a time, where this process included heavy gear, a 2 week wait. And sharing meant taking your pictures to friends or buying a coffee table book with landscape/nature photos,

Digital connectivity offers so much more and I love seeing the environments where others run!

A brilliant post, love it, I felt like I was walking right next to you šŸ˜Š fab piccie, it really is an idyllic setting (I had no trouble spotting the deer btw šŸ˜ƒ). There's nothing like a long walk in nature, so restorative mind and body. And that veggie curry sounds delicious. A perfect day šŸ˜

What a lovely walk, and your photo looks like it was on a postcard. Itā€™s lovely. All the nature you see more walking sometimes missing on a run. Deer are around here but they have the habit of running across the road when we are in car in front of u. Hope u are feeling better .
