Cubii under-desk elliptical

Hiya,

About 2 years ago, around the start of the corona crisis, I bought myself an expensive under-desk elliptical called Cubii Jr1. I bought this one instead of a (cheaper) regular under-desk bike, because they all are too high to fit under my desk at home. My knees would make holes in the desk. But this under-desk elliptical was just right for my knees to just not bump against the bottom of my desk. So I bought it. Unfortunately I did not use it much and it ended up gathering dust in a closet.

Until last Friday, when I thought about him again and pulled him out of the closet and dusted him off. During the weekend I have used him in a slow way, just crocheting away while using it and I also used him for half an hour going much faster and ending up in sweat. Unfortunately it does not give a lot of distance.

Yesterday I was working from home and I pedaled away slowly for 3 hours and 9 minutes in total (spread over my working hours) on resistance 2 and I reached a meager 2,06 km. There are 8 resistance levels, but it has to stay nice and doable while working or crocheting, so I keep it on 2 and don't go fast. So I should not do it to get more distance on my Conqueror medals. But my way of thinking is, it is some kind of exercise. My legs are moving and my blood circulation improves.

I have not done any intentional walks or indoor bike rides anymore since the heat started. But I am now counting my steps for the Conqueror medals too. Yesterday I went to the town center to go and watch a Derny of the female elite cyclists, which gave me 8000 steps in total (combined with my indoor steps in my apartment) for the day. I then calculate it with a little formula into km's and enter that into the Conqueror app. Together with my 3 hours of under-desk ellipticalling (if that's a word?), it gave me a nice distance.

Anyhow, I am nagging and babbling I see. Short story long, I am not doing many intentional walks (maybe there will be some again starting this weekend when I have a bit of holiday). But with my Cubii I will be moving even if it doesn't give me loads of distance. And I guess moving is most important, no?

Cheers, Evy

Moving is what it’s all about… I just wish the media would push it instead of diets! One of these sounds ideal for active recovery the day after my long run, so I’m going to look it up right now.

Any exercise we do is good… sure exercises are more beneficial than others, but I also believe it’s sometimes good to target one muscle group at at time as per weight training. Thanks for posting this.

Appliances like under-desk ellipticals and under-desk bikes are actually being used for people to recover after surgery or for elderly people to keep moving. So I am sure it can be beneficial for the legs as recovery the day after a long run!

Just looked it up and have never heard of a Cubii. It’s a bit like a recumbent bike but smaller. I think it will be good for injuries for exercise and Probably if People have arthritis in hips etc. The bikes would have been good to see. We had one in our town Road race of Britain mens ans womens., Yes I think moving is important but you can still relax. Enjoy your break. ☀️😊

You can indeed use it while sitting on whatever you wish, from a stiff wooden chair to your comfy couch. It has a small 'wheel' I think, which is why you get such short distances for such long times of pedaling. But it is movement! Working from home again today and I am pedaling away 😉.

Dear Evy, I enjoyed reading your story. You write so well, and if it is rambling, so be it, it’s still enjoyable. Yes, you’re moving and that’s important, not the speed. Lakshmi

Thanks and thanks for liking my writing 😀

No Cubii at the moment as I did not take him along on holiday 😉
