Did 25 min brisk walk - at same speed as has been recorded over last 2 wks. The Active 10 app initially recorded nothing. After 20 mins, and after turning phone off and back on, it decided I had done 25 mins none of which brisk! Phone in same pocket as always, same route. What a let down and very demotivating.

Oh no, Bowler21up that's awful! All I can do is commiserate and point you to the pinned posts on the right of the page, where there's a link to the app for trouble shooting. I don't use the app, as I'm a total technophobe - I just do what I learned from the tv, walk so that I can talk but not sing! And time myself with an old fashioned watch! But I feel for you - it's so very frustrating (frustration is what drove away from technology!!!). Hopefully someone more tech savvy will post some advice. But hey, well done on the 25 minute brisk walk!
That's definitely a pain in the butt that it's not recorded. I use a fitness watch to track my walks over time, and I know some people use phone aps. On the plus side you gained the exercise benefit from it, but it's so much nicer if you can track over time. If it's not working for you why not try a different ap? I know my partner was using Google fit to track his walks last year. You can get the same support here ap or no ap and we can hand out the badges all the same.
