New AN - what can you do to help yourself!

Hi, I'm very recently diagnosed with an AN with headaches, loss of hearing and dizziness. I'm on wait and watch. Has anyone found any particular food that irritates this condition? I seem to feel worse if it's windy - does the weather impact it? And some days (especially mornings) feel like I have just run into a wall. Would love to hear any positive thoughts from anyone! I have found yoga helps the balance and walking - although it's a bit unpleasant at the time and cocooning myself feels far preferable!

Hi ,I am also on wait and watch having been diagnosed about 18 months ago. My consultant said that yoga may help focus on balance etc and I do definitely think it helps although I think I may be the wobbliest person in class some days! It's the days of sheer fatigue that get to me but not noticed a problem with food.

Thankyou - I agree with the yoga and the wobbles (!) Good luck with the rest of you wait and watch

Hi Laura. I do find the weather does affect me. Someone said it’s air pressure related, but who knows. I just know some days are a lot harder than others.

You want positive thoughts and tips so I’m going to dig deep and find some 🤣

If I manage my day well, am aware of fatigue and rest/nap without pushing on, I can have much better weeks.

Drink plenty (of water). I’ve been told tumours swell slightly if dehydrated. Don’t know if it’s true, but I’ve found it really does help me feel better if I’m well hydrated.

Stay active. Walking regularly and exercising helps your balance- if you don’t use it you lose it is what I was told. But be aware that the more you do, the more fatigued you get. Rest is essential. Don’t think tomorrow will be better and push on, because I find it cumulative. I get more tired each day, then I crash. A nap at the right time in the day keeps me chugging along ok and makes life much more manageable.

Xx
