Friend has kidney liver pancreas disease and diabetes 3 help please
I’m sorry…it’s inappropriate to speculate in this case.
It would be in her best interest to seek medical advice.
She likely has advanced cirrhosis and the substance coming from her leg is ascites fluid which doctors can drain from her belly but it's a sign she is in real trouble and needs to seek medical attention from a liver specialist right away. There is something called the Tipps procedure which they might be able to do, wherein a shunt is inserted from the portal vein in her liver to her heart which will function to increase the blood flow to her heart and help alleviate the strain on the damaged liver that is causing the ascites... There are a couple other options as well, but not likely a transplant if she is still drinking. Please don't take my advice here as gospel either, they are just suggestions from having some experience with this. Bottom line, your friend must!!!! Seek the help of a liver specialist pronto. It is good that you understand and are empathetic to the pain of loss your friend has gone through. In most cases, people drink to numb out from trauma and grief, and a good liver care team will both recognize this, and hopefully offer options for emotional support such as resources for counseling as well. But the medical aspect is critical at this stage. I really hope your friend can recover. The good news is that the liver is resilient and can regenerate in time...
