Anyone else had any experience with doubling up on the progesterone pill to stop bleeding?

I had been on noriday for 8 months will basically no problems. This month, I started my period and it just didnt stop. I went to my GP who switched me over to Desogestrel and told me to take 2 a day as this pill is more reliable, and this will stop my bleeding. How long should I take 2 of this pill before going back to the GP because the bleeding isnt stopping? My plan is that if it doesnt stop I am just going to come off the pill and find something like the patch that doesnt impact bleeding as much hopefully (not sure yet I will have a consultation before choosing.)

Thank you

I remember when I was peri menopausal, I was had a similar experience with non stop bleeding. I seemed to bleed for 3 weeks out of 4. My GP immediately referred me to the gynaecologist at my local hospital as a quick referral. They were wonderful. I had an internal check, and ultrasound. This revealed a slight thickening of my womb. I had a check under general anaesthetic, and fortunately there was nothing sinister. I was given the mirina coil which sorted out the bleeding.

I don’t know if you have seen a gynaecologist, but perhaps you could suggest it to your GP if not. If in doubt, rule it out should always be at the forefront of doctors minds. I wish you luck x
