So I thought my period had started 2 days early. However I started bleeding extremely heavily. I was changing my pads every half hour / 40 mins and there were some very large bloody clots (like jelly). I could literally feel them coming out (sorry tmi). Anyway, my friend encouraged me to go a&e as this was very unlike my actual periods. The doctors prescribed Tranexamic Acid to me. I had a IV drip this morning with it and need to pick up the medication tomorrow morning. Anyway. It looks like the bleeding has stopped completely. I'm confused as when I've read up about this medication, it states that it doesn't stop periods. It just slows them down. So do I still go pick up the medication or not? If I've stopped bleeding.. then idk, do I still need it. Please advise

I read that to but do not be put off it worked for me however I read it places it takes 48 hours to work but for me it took 5/7 days on average to work.
I have had exactly the same experience as you with my periods following mirena coil removal. It's actually very distressing isn't it. I have found in my case if I start taking Tranexamic Acid as soon as I get my period it works very well. It makes it a very manageable bleed and a shorter duration.
