Asking on behalf of my wife. She never had UTIs before married life, before we started having vaginal penetrative sex. She has since gotten 2 UTIs, this last one while seemingly over (symtoms wise), with the test strips she is still testing faintly/partially positive for leukocytes.
She went to doctor for follow up before and gotten extension on the prescription to kill the UTI bacteria.
We're just wondering is it normal to still have leukocytes detected in urine when she is otherwise fine. Or does this indicate an underlying issue to still resolve? Online research so far hasn't come up with anything useful regarding leukocytes while otherwise healthy.
She's supposedly been "recovered" for about two weeks since she last took the (refill) medications, and another week or two before that for the initial medication from UTI infection. So it's been a while now, and she's still detecting leukocytes.
For medication, she was prescribed Nitrofurantoin (Macrobid).
