Hi everyone! I started taking the mini pill ‘zelleta’ I think it’s called, it’s the cheaper version of cerazette I believe. Basically I started it about 5 weeks ago, and I have experienced constant heavy mensural bleeding for 4 of those weeks. According to my gynae I shouldn’t bleed on it all. The reason I started taking it was because I was having no periods (not one for 6 months solid) and was suffering side effects of polycystic ovaries. Has anyone else had this same issue? If so, have you tried anything else that works? I can’t take the combined pill due to migraines. Thanks so much in advance!

Hey, I was on the mini pill for just over 10 weeks and I continually bled on it too! It was awful for me I had some bad side effects from it aswell, they said to me many women experience no bleeding at all but occasionally women do bleed on it, they also said to me to wait it out for 3 months to see if the hormones settled in my body but after 10 weeks of bleeding I couldn’t take it so asked to be changed, they gave me the combined pill which has been so amazing for me but in your case I’m not too sure, would you be able to have the depo? If you contact your doctor they may be able to give something extra to stop with the bleeding. It’s really trial and error for the first few months but I hope you get it sorted oh also I had a friend who bled on it at first for a couple weeks and it stopped pretty much she only gets a tiny amount of blood now

Hey! I'm sorry you're having a bad experience with the progesterone only pill.
I'm also on the mini pill (cerazette) and have been bleeding constantly for four months on it. I has prescribed this pill to stop my heavy bleeding but it has made the problem worse. I haven't been able to see my gnyae yet due to covid but I've been told to stay on the pill and just put up with the bleeding until then :/ But the GP have also prescribed tranexamic acid and mefenamic acid to help with the bleeding, I haven't taken those yet but apparently they help reduce heavy bleeding.
