Help!

ChriatieBoombatty profile image

I am the heaviest I've ever been and I'm really feeling it and seeing it in the mirror. I recently broke up with my children's father of 12 years and I've never felt so low. Is there anyone in a similar position who has low motivation and low self esteem?

Hello. Sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate at the moment. Breaking up is really hard and you worry about the children, and it’s Christmas, and everything else.

If you want to focus on losing weight at the moment there is as part of this site a weight loss support community. So maybe try posting on there.

Having low self esteem myself, I wonder if you are doing a lot of negative self-talk. Try to challenge the negative thoughts - what would you say to a friend who was expressing these thoughts, and can you be as kind to yourself as you would be to that friend? Hopefully you can enjoy some time off over Christmas and see some family or friends. It can be an uphill struggle at times, but things will improve.

Take care of yourself. 🤗

Welcome to HE :)

I'm sorry you've had a tough time recently. I've had a spell like that in the past, and it can be a bit of a spiral - beating yourself up for eating badly, but eating badly because you're beating yourself up so often.

Don't push yourself too hard, and try to calm your inner critic around food.

Look for ways to make eating healthier that bit easier - I like frozen veg for this, as it's pre-chopped. I also batch cook, or prep double the raw ingredients, which I'll also freeze for another time. Pressure cookers and slow cookers as a great help with this.

I personally also struggle with holding myself accountable. If that applies to you, then try to find external accountability - a workout buddy, a fitness group, or even with the aim to do something for your kids.

I am sorry you are going through this difficult time. Looking your best usually helps you feel your best. Perhaps try a light workout plan and review what you have been eating. Make changes to your diet. I understand the low motivation. However, you feel like it, use YouTube to find a light work out plan. Hang in there. 🤗
