Anyone’s experience with having Zoladex for fibroids. Currently just about to have my third of 3 injections. Bleeding has been very up and down until about a week ago when finally stopped. But ny question is, will the fibroids grow back as I have read this can happen

🙂 Read previous discussions, type Zoladex in the search box (above right).

Hi, I was on it for 4 months while waiting for my hysterectomy. It doesn't stop the fibroids growing or get rid of them, it just puts you in temporary menopause and stops the bleeding. It was a life saver for me as I was bleeding heavily daily. Ended up having a hysterectomy and it gave me my life back. X

Hi I was wandering how you got diagnosed with Fibroids in the first place? I’m sure I have them but am struggling to find out what’s wrong

Hello. I was diagnosed after having heavy bleeding around 3 years ago. I had a scan that’s how I found out. I’d never heard of them and to be honest apart from the bleeding I have no other symptoms.

I just got my shot a couple of weeks ago, no serious symptoms yet but my belly had doubled in size!😰I was hoping for the opposite effect 😭

I had my third and last injection 2 weeks ago. Still no symptoms but do think my belly has got flatter 😀

Have you heard of Sonata treatment for fibroids? I’ve asked my gynaecologist to write to Addenbrookes in Cambridge to consider me for the Sonata treatment. It’s a non surgical treatment, using radio frequency to zap the fibroids, killing them and causing them to shrink much quicker than UAE or medical treatments like Zoladex. There are only a few hospitals in England with Sonata as it’s only been around for a couple of years, but you can be treated as an outpatient, local anaesthetic and go home same day, much quicker recovery and less invasive. Results from treatment look really positive, reducing heavy bleeding significantly. I’m keeping everything crossed as the alternative for me will be a hysterectomy, I’m 41 and don’t really want to have it if possible.

This isn’t something I’ve heard of. I had my last zoladex end of November and so far no bleeding. I did have a hysterectomy booked in for early December but it got cancelled and now I’m hoping I won’t have to go ahead with this operation.
