Perimenopause and Head Buzzing....

Good morning,

I have had Tinnitus for years and it has been pretty low level and only bothered me at night. About 10 years ago I had my hearing checked and everything was fine.

Over the last few weeks my Tinnitus has increased and it's like an electric current in my head (I think this may be down to anxiety, which was awful, at the start of this pandemic). Yesterday, it was the quietest it has been in a while.....I was really pleased. I had three glasses of wine last night and I woke at 4.30am this morning will the buzzing in my head back, but louder. I'm wondering if this is down to drinking alcohol? The other thought I have had is whether this is another perimenopause symptom and affected by hormones? Whatever it is, it is so annoying! Does anyone have any input or advice they can share please?

Hi Julia7

I can't say about this specific symptom but yesterday I felt so strange, like an internal humming or light vibration and loads of other symptoms and today I have started on my period which wasn't due for at least another week. I'm in peri and I'm beginning to think that anything strange that I have going on is hormonal, because believe, the list is long

Yes I had this and it subsided when my periods stopped. It felt like a mobile phone on vibrate! Mainly at night but it could also happen during the day. Falling estrogen levels can impact the nervous system.
