Has anyone had radiotherapy after the removal of a lump from the breast? If so, can you let me know, if after the treatment had stopped the breast area treated became extremely sore (and red)? My three-week course stopped a week ago and the soreness has got much worse and is so very painful. The ointment they gave me doesn't help and I am finding moisturising cream helps a little. Under the Breast is worst. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

🤔 Yes, this happened to me, and underneath was worst. I couldn’t comfortably wear a bra, and often just went without for quite a long time. The skin didn’t break but it was very tender. . I was back and forth to M&S trying different types to find one I could tolerate. Things did eventually get better but it was a very slow process. I’d keep the area well moisturised, and if you are particularly worried, don’t hesitate to contact your local Breast Clinic or the Breast Care Nurse you were allocated.

wobblybee. Thank you, Ifelt sure this was the case, but it is so very sore and angry looking underneath. It is comforting to have it confirmed. I do apprecate your response.

I had six weeks of rads.

In week 4 developed a staph infection under my breast. If it is weeping and smelly, contact your dr or nurse.

My skin took a beating and i had to take a week off.

It was very painful, my sking basically sloughed off at one point.

The one thing that helped was soaking it in a bowl of salt water. Very soothing and helped heal my skin.

Surprisingly my skin healed fairly quickly.

My breast was super hot off and on for about a year.

Thank you for yur reply, that was a very long treatment time so I can well imagine the after effects. Poor you. Plased you re all healed now. I did wonder about bathing with salt water, it seems sensible, so your comment is helpful.
