Piles causing anal leakage after posterior repair 3 years ago

I had posterior repair 3 years ago. Since then I have had what feels like external pile but creams and suppositories have made no difference. My problem is trying to get myself clean after a bowel movement. Also if I pass wind after bowel movement I can sometimes pass leaky stool. I’m wondering if anyone else has had treatment for this without surgery. Since the operation I have had bacterial vaginosis a couple of times and I worry that germs from faeces may be causing it. Thank you for any advice.

Has a doctor examined you at all?

I don't have experience with this myself, but I just wonder if the lump could be scarring from your procedure? It would need someone to look to confirm though.

I also wonder if your procedure has messed with your gut flora in some way - did you have to take a laxative beforehand? But imbalances can cause things to loosen up a little. It might be worth trying some probiotics. I don't think it can hurt.

Thank you for your reply - I am wondering if the ‘lump’ may be caused by the procedure as it doesn’t respond to haemmoroid cream or pessaries. I have always taken probiotics and don’t have any problems regarding constipation or loose bowel movements. I hope to pluck up the courage for a gp visit but I know I couldn’t cope with another operation.

Thanks once again.

There are different strain of probiotic, so it could be worth trying something from one of the other families (e.g. sacromyces boullardii)
