So after having 2 babies I have suffered with an anal skin tag following pregnancy piles, at my 6 week check my dr referred me to the consultant who said he will remove the tag under GA and leave the wound open to heal on its own. I have scared myself by reading google and the horror stories on there. Is there anyone who has had this op that can share their experience? I’ve never had a operation and I am so worried about the pain/recovery with 2 kids to look after and where it is. I’ve had 2 episiotomy so I’m hoping it can’t be any worse than the healing from that 🙏🏻

Anal skin tag operation
🙂 I recently had a flexible Sigmoidoscopy because of bleeding and internal haemorrhoids, and I also have a skin tag/external haemorrhoid. I was anxious and fully expected to have a procedure done, but the surgeon decided to leave things as they are. As with labour, no two people will have exactly the same experience, and chances are that the procedure will be straightforward and nothing like you expected.
Hi Ella85 - I had this procedure a few years ago under local anaesthetic. I was booked in for an early morning appointment- the nurse explained that the consultant likes to do the op early in the day and importantly after you have been to the toilet (done a poo). My advice is DO NOT let them do the op unless you have done a poo as it may well cause complications with recovery/healing. The procedure itself extremely quick and completely painless. Best of luck
