How much would you use internally ? Best wishes

Most of them are meant to be used internally, you can buy Replens in a box of 6 single dose applicators or they do a tube and applicator but I would recommend getting one without preservatives as they can irritate.

Hello Bantam

I have gel moisturizers can you use the gel internally ? I don't have applicators as gel .

What is the name of it ? Are there no instructions ? If you need it internally then you need one with an applicator.

Canesintima Intimate Lubricating Moisturisor . couldn't see any in the box unless I lost them . Did I get the wrong moisturiser ? No idea what one to get. What moisturiser would you say would be the best?

Best wishes

Personally I wouldn't use any of the Canestan products as they can cause more irritation but the one you have says apply with your finger inside and out, not ideal really.

Replens is the most natural moisturiser with nothing in it to cause problems.

I did look at Replens then didn't get that one. I will next time . Thank you

Is this doctor prescribed? Because if it's just something you've bought, I'd reconsider using it - commercial products throw out the PH, and can cause other problems long term.

I would tend to apply moisturisers internally and externally (not on the hairy bits)

The doctor said its ok to get them over the counter

If the doctor is suggesting you use it, that's fine - if it's purely for moisture (e.g. eczema) you should use something like emulsifying ointment, as it's scent free and won't upset your pH balance too much.

If it's to treat a specific condition, like thrush, you can just apply it to the external bit, and it tends to work it's way inside from there.

I don't have a condition yet waiting for gyne to see what is the matter. Best wishes

If it's anything to do with pain, I would definitely suggest you only use emulsifying ointment for now (that's what the gynae recommends, as it's low on chemicals) - ask the pharmacist how to mix it up.

I've also used coconut oil - break off a lump and insert it a bit like a pessary (sorry, bit descriptive!)

The gynae is often a bit exasperated by the amount of chemicals your doctor will have applied to that area "to see if it makes a difference", and if it is a pain condition, the chemicals do more harm than good!

Thank you . Mine is more pain and soreness . What should I expect from gyne appointment?

Unfortunately it depends on who you get!

They'll want a background on when the pain started, it might help you to write it down so you don't forget anything.

They will do an examination, and they may use a cotton bud or finger to apply pressure to different areas, to figure out where the pain is.

The treatment will depend on what's wrong. If it's muscular, you'll likely be sent for physio and be given dilators to stretch the muscles out. If it's nerve pain, they'll try local anaesthetics, painkillers, and ask you to stop using fragranced toiletries and washing powder. If this is the case, you can PM me for some tips and support!

There are other causes of pain, but I don't know the treatment for those. There is a useful book out there called "when sex hurts" that can help you :)

Thank you . Gyne is there normally a doctor and a nurse?

Is the book worth getting ? If Will Pm depending on outcome . I wont know until Jan as wont have appointment until then !!

There will be a doctor to start off with, then they'll ask if you would like a nurse to be present for the examination. The nurse only comes in for the examination - not the whole time.

I've had many Gynae appts and there is always a nurse present regardless of examination or not, at my appt 2 days ago there was the Consultant, a med student, a nurse and a Senior Sister, quite a party 🤣

Obviously depends on the hospital but my local ones provide a nurse chaperone every time.

It really does depend where you are I guess - often if it's a male consultant, they don't even ask, a nurse just shows up! But I've never had a nurse present throughout, they only came in for the exam. I've had a lot of unchaperoned examinations as well.

How do you feel about a male consultant? I don't know how I feel . Can you choose who you see? Best wishes

Cooper27 in reply to77Horse

I prefer female, but to be honest, I am generally just glad ANYONE is trying to help, so I go with it. I'd definitely want a nurse with a male doctor though.

Thank you for your message

If you want a lady doc tell them now and they can sort it, my latest appt was booked with a male so I said no thanks book me in with a lady, only had to wait an extra day. I would definitely only see a lady as no matter how good a man is they haven't got the lady bits so will never understand how things feel !

Is it normal to have an ultra sound before attending gyne appointment?

bantam12 profile image
bantam12 in reply to77Horse

Yes it is, either before or on the day.

77Horse profile image
77Horse in reply tobantam12

Do you have two ultra sounds as I had one a few months back ?

Do they do the ultra sound internal or external

Is it normal to be sore even when not using anything that would make you sore for example Moisturizers or should I see GP?

bantam12 profile image
bantam12 in reply to77Horse

Of course it's not normal but you said your GP doesn't know what's causing it so you have a referral. If you've been using the Canestan and it's not helped then it's possibly making it worse, try Replens but you have to give it a few weeks to work.

77Horse profile image
77Horse in reply tobantam12

Ok I will . Is it worth me going back to GP ?

bantam12 profile image
bantam12 in reply to77Horse

Only you can answer that, if your GP doesn't know how to treat whatever you have then is there any point.

77Horse profile image
77Horse in reply tobantam12

No . I will just wait for referral . Thank you

77Horse profile image

Got my referral and appointment for January ! January will soon come . Lets hope I get an answer to what is going on !! Best wishes

How often can you use a moisturiser ? Once a week or when required ?

bantam12 profile image
bantam12 in reply to77Horse

As often as you like but most work for a couple of days at least.

77Horse profile image
77Horse in reply tobantam12

Hello Bantam

If you used a moisturiser all the time would it make you sorer ?

Thank you

bantam12 profile image
bantam12 in reply to77Horse

As you are sore after the internal you perhaps would be better not using anything for a few days, give things a chance to settle down. Which product are you using ?

77Horse profile image
77Horse in reply tobantam12

Vagisil ProHydrate Internal Hydrating . I think after you have used the moisturiser you cannot use for 3 days . Do you think its worth speak to GP and see what they recommend ?

bantam12 profile image
bantam12

Noooooo don't use Vagisil, it's known to irritate. Try Replens or Sylk they are much kinder, but only if you are sure you need a moisturiser.

77Horse profile image
77Horse in reply tobantam12

Thank you Bantam but to be truthful I am not sure what I need . Maybe a phone call with a GP might be an idea ? As everything come back normal from appointment !
