For a year now I’ve had urine that smells like “eggs” as my daughter puts it. I’ve been tested for UTI but was negative. No other symptoms. Does anyone have any idea what this might be from? I am approaching menopause (almost 50) could this be related?

Urine Odor
Although been tested for a UTI, have you had a chem panel to test your kidney function beyond a UTI? Do you eat a lot of strong smelling foods like asparagus? That can make your urine smell.
I can’t say for certain if I’ve had a chem panel done although I was admitted to the hospital about six months ago after having broken out in hives. They did draw blood but entirely sure what they were checking for. I checked out okay, told me it could’ve been a virus but ever since then I still have the occasional breakout here and there. I’m taking an antihistamine everyday now. Food allergy testing was done But nothing stood out. I’m wondering if the hives and urine odor have something in common. Thanks for the advice!
Hi there,I don't think you are alone it's seems to be quite common. I suffer from exactly the same thing your right the odour is like eggs with myself it happens when I have eaten anything with yeast in ie bread, biscuits etc. There could be some connection to the menopause as mine started in my early 50's. Don't worry to much thankfully it's over 10 years now and I'm still quite healthy. Hope this puts your mind at ease just a bit.
Thanks! You know, I think you might be on to something. I notice that it is stronger on some days and not on others. I will start keeping track of my diet and see if omitting breads and yeast items makes a difference. Thank you for your reply!
Your so welcome if I can help in anyway please contact me. I hope it works for you, it could of course be something you have now become intolerant to it can be very embarrassing I know having unpleasant odours. It's certainly worth a try! It was milk with a friend of mine as soon as she cut it out the odour vanished. All the best to you in finding out your own personal culprit. 😊
There's a few reasons mentioned here: medicalnewstoday.com/articl...
If it's persistent, & doesn't change from drinking more water, it might be sensible to see your GP, just in case.
