Hi Marie381,

If you are really asking what is the best way to lose 14 stone of human body weight - then the answer is you need to be talking to doctors about that sort of weight loss.

I'm going to work on the basis that you ARE currently 14 stone and presume that makes you overweight or obese (unless you're incredibly tall!) and, therefore, that you want to lose some of that weight.

If that's the case, then read up on the NHSChoices live well lose weight pages about losing weight, diets, nutrition, foods, snacking and all that sort of thing, There's lots of good and free information there. Also there's a BMI calculator there, so find out your BMI and, therefore, how overweight you are, if at all.

Then make some sort of decision about how much weight you want to lose, i.e. what weight do you want to end up at?

Then make a commitment to yourself, your body and your health and wellbeing to lose that amount of weight.

The next step is to make a plan. There's a free and very good 12 week plan on the NHSChoices live well lose weight pages. Even if you choose not to follow that, it is still very useful to use as the basis of any plan you devise for yourself. I would recommend you look at losing about 0.5 to 1 Kg a week - roughly a pound or two.

Whatever plan you choose to follow, it's got to fit in with your lifestyle to some degree.

Then - get on the weight loss bus!

Oh and there's plenty of good advice, experience and support on these blogs too, from people who are actually doing weight loss. So having a good read around these blogs is a useful investment, too.

Mainly around here, we're in to losing weight once and for all. By that I mean about life change rather than yo-yo dieting.

So it's about re-training away your unhelpful eating and activity/exercise habits and replacing them with better ones for a period of time (12 / 13 weeks or so). In effect, by then, your new ways will have become your norm.

Good luck.

Agree with Doikosp.

If you really need to lose 14 stone then you should be under medical supervision and getting a lot of help and guidance from a medical professional.

You seem to have tried a lot of diets, but don't say whether they have worked, or how long you tried them for.

The best way to lose weight is a combination of both diet and exercise. A healthy diet, lots of fruit and veg and lean meat to make sure you get the nutrients you need, and some aerobic exercise to get rid of the excess weight.

The NHS plan is great because it is more of a lifestyle change than a diet. It incorporates targets for your 5 a day, aerobic exercise, strength and core exercise, calorie intake, weight and body measurements. Take a look and ask your doctor for some advice on how to tailor it to yourself.
