Hi yelenots,
It's like giving up smoking. Some people find it easy to just chuck the habit, some people need more of a 'weaning off' approach.
Just think of all those health benefits of having a healthier body weight.
And, so far on my journey - I'm about 19 kgs to go - my weekly food bill has gone down significantly. No joke.
Just get back on the bus - so as to speak.
Good luck.
I agree. I used to think why people find it so difficult to stop smoking considering the health gain but now on the same boat with eating habits. I used to be vry good, tried every single diet and was very active. Now I am 54 problem with knees and rely mainley on changing habits and walk.
NEED GOOD LUCK

Hi skausar58,
Now I know this blog is mainly about losing weight, but the issue of exercise keeps coming up and I've found upping my exercise quite significantly very helpful indeed.
There are just so many, many ways to do that.
So, o.k., I've got hold of an old Bullworker and I'm using that for isotonic and isometric exercises. But I also do some floor exercises like ab crunchs and good ol' fashioned push ups. A lot of people could do some floor exercises (perhaps not a full range of them - but some) or some chair exercises or some standing up exercises. If one part of the body has problems, then keep the other bits going.
I also do various pretty standard stretching exercises to keep the range of movement up and to help keep up the mobility of my various joints. Again, many people could do a bit of that.
I walk the dog - he's a big fellow and needs a decent walk and a good throw about of the ball.
As I've got fitter and lost weight, I've started running up and down stairs as I go about my work and started to jig a bit in 'gaps' (waiting for things to cook). It all keeps the bits and pieces moving.
There is such a range of activities from swimming, through rowing, archery, zumba classes, aerobics, aqua aerobics, bowling, tennis, football, rugby, cricket, gardening, to things I don't even know about. There just HAS to be something there for any person who wants to up the activity levels and burn off a bit of fat.
The benefits of getting more active and feeling your body respond to exercise and activity are well worth the effort and all those people on this blog who have done the Couch to 5K thing will probably confirm.
And only too like bad eating habits, the more you become inactive, the more you teach your
body to be inactive and being inactive becomes the norm.
One of things that prompted me to take the 'bull by the horns' with my excessive and increasing weight, by the way, was plantar faciitis in my right foot. Whatever else I did or didn't do about it, I knew only too well that taking some of that extra weight off was going to be better for it than leaving it on or letting it increase.
keep it up, I am also moving into the 2nd week this week. Its hard, to give up the normal eating food which we love, I look at my self in the mirror and say I should look better than this. I am preparing to play with my grand children during summer time. They can eat the pizza.
Don't worry we all have those, its gone now, tomorrow is another day. xx
