Tbh I'm 5 foot 4 in and weigh217 I smoke. I did a workout for beginners today. Don't get me wrong it felt so good to do the moving around just kinda feel unworthy bc I could only do 6 mins of it. My breathing get really out of control and I cough. My Dr told me to exercise but I didn't think I was this out of shape. I'm gonna try all day long to finish this work out positive vibes please

Hello and welcome to the forum, Atthepark :)

It's generally best to build up gradually with exercise rather than overdo it, wipe yourself out and then do nothing for a month :) You might like to join our Fit is Fun club: you'll find lots of encouragement there.

Exercise is so important for our health and wellbeing but, to get to a healthy weight, you need to make changes to what, and how, you eat. Have a look at the Daily Diary and join in when you're ready - that's where you'll find the food chat.

While you're at it, look at all our activities and clubs. You'll find everything I've mentioned by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l...

Join in as much as you can, give other members a bit of encouragement and it will all pay off for you.

Hello Atthepark and welcome, I'm not really physically fit enough to attempt any of the "beginner's" work outs on YouTube, I walk with the aid of stick and I'm scared stiff of falling, lol. I found the NHS 5 week plan to be the easiest, most doable. They reckon to get us fitter in 5 weeks, it took me 10 weeks but that doesn't matter .Now I'm fitter than I've been for a long time, I feel that I could even attempt the "C25K" but I'm not interested in bashing along the tarmac.

Do have a look at our Fit is Fun feed, just click on the link that BridgeGirl has given you, then scroll down to the 6th title, click on that and enjoy. :)

If you need any more help just shout :)

Hi Atthepark,

I have a health condition that means I can't do much in the way of exercise now and it is hard not to feel a bit of a failure when you aren't as fit as you want to be but, as my Dr and physio helped me to understand, it's about being proud of what you can manage, not what you can't. Thry also helped me to realise that small steps still get you to your goal. I used to be active so my brain wants to do the same as before. It took me time to get into the idea of just moving around in the swimming pool was ok, If I tried to do more in the beginning I would be exhausted and miserable! I built it up gradually so to me, 6 minutes of a workout sounds brilliant and the more you do this the more you will be able to do. Maybe build on a minute each day if you can. Good luck , you can do this👍
