Hello Freyarohan25 and welcome to this very friendly and supportive forum. You are so right about writing things down, I write out a meal plan for the week ahead and log each meal on an app as I go along. Nothing can sneak in this way lol. Everything you need to know about this forum and how to find your way around is in pinned posts

Do have a good look around and follow all the links. We strongly suggest you participate in as much as you can but in particular the Weekly Weigh in and Daily Diary. The more involved you get the more support you get and can pay back. We also have a Fit is Fun thread such may interest you and help you when mobility is a problem. I started my journey on crutches and a rollator (with a fracture in my knee joint) and found lots of exercise videos on YouTube that I could follow sitting down or gentle enough that I could stand to do them.
I wish you luck on your journey, any questions in the meantime, please just shout out, there's usually someone around most of the day xx
Hello Zarbritt, welcome aboard
Motivation is a funny word: it means the reason for acting in a certain way: you say that you have many reasons so it's not motivation you're lacking - though it may be worthwhile writing down all those reasons as a reminder to yourself when things aren't going well.
I'm thinking that you need a plan and that will be your starting point. Aim for something you can stick to for good so you don't get into the dieting/losing/gaining/dieting cycle. Take your time, join in with forum activities, as Gizmocat says, and be open-minded about trying new approaches.
For starters, this is a simple plan you might like phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
... and here's a short video that might give you a new perspective: it's the first of several and you can follow them up on YouTube
I love the videos mentioned by BridgeGirl . They are what motivated me to start with (especially episodes 3&4) and I do watch them again from time to time when I feel I'm losing focus on what I should be doing to lose weight.
Take it as starting a new job . Small steps . No diet just an unprocessed 3 meals a day with limited snacks and a little time planned for a walk or some exercise via You Tube but if I am out I don’t eat . Make any meal you are going to eat before you go out so it’s ready and you don’t go to the cupboard first . Plan meals and make a shopping list . That goes into the trolley . I only weigh myself once a week . Just cutting out snacks and I don’t eat anything after my evening meal . There are millions of faddy complex eating plans . I found simple and not overthinking . If invited out I just have a main course . Nobody even bothers asking me why .
Hi Zarbritt, I think not giving up is the key and I love to read motivational quotes. Winston Churchill said success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm 😉 We wouldn't be here if we could do it straight away and you need support and encouragement to be able to keep going as there will be lots of ups and downs x
