Looking at some of the user names on the forums, I wonder if these names are counterproductive. If you call yourself “Fatty Harbuckle,” or “Blimpman” it might show a sense of humour of sorts, but surely a more positive name might help you become what your slimmer self wants to be(?) Just a thought. Signed Clark Kent.

Names for winners or losers?
Good morning Geetarplayer and welcome back to the forum
Yes, I agree and the Admin team always suggest a re-think about a name with negative connotations.
There will have been a few changes since last you were here and you'll find everything you need - weigh-in, daily diary, fit is fun club and other activities - by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... to Pinned Posts. So superman has taken guitar lessons, why not just use your own name?
Lots of us, for many and varied reasons don’t want our given names, but I do agree with you about using positive names. Trouble is I find it negative if you are called fatforever but you have free will to call yourself whatever you like!😉
I’d never argue that it’s not ok to call yourself whatever you want, but I think that it’s a bad step to give yourself a name that is defining you as a blimp! I would even venture that some people just use this as a social club and aren’t really that bothered about their weight whereas others are desperately trying to get themselves healthier by losing weight.
Mine actually does mean something . I couldn't get on with someone I had to work closely with . She was quite adept in her own strange way by just saying things like 'You are so focused or too focused but focused was that trigger word that lead to many a dig . I slowly looked for a new job which was easier than I thought . I had more confidence after shedding 18kg after I had a tricky hiatus hernia op so it was only at my exit interview where I told management I would rather walk away than cause friction especially as we were working with young children . I didn't name the person but I feel they knew . I had told nobody I was going but my last day there I felt a million dollars . Oh yes - she was so right. I was truly focused .
Agreed - I am one of those who does use this as a social club as I still get encouragement and a sense of normality from reading other peoples stories . I no longer have a guilt trip about having varied emotions . It is great to have support without physical attachment . If you think that is wrong then maybe you have the comfort of your strings and your music . Nothing wrong with that either .
Great story! I bet that was very satisfying
It was but I think the weight loss gave me that inner confidence too . I couldn't imagine going for interviews to race around with young children especially aged - then 59 . I was convinced I had to look the part which I did after the weight loss . I can talk for England but part of the interview process was spending the morning with a bunch of very energetic 2 year olds !!!
It’s weird, but I’m getting some quite negative and slightly sarcastic reactions to a comment that was meant to encourage people to aim for weight loss success! Call yourself whatever you want and let’s get on with it! Nothing wrong with a social club but let’s not be those lot that just sit in the gym looking at their phones rather than doing a workout!
You obviously have some very definite ideas about how other people should behave and think including what they call themselves. You are of course entitled to your opinions but you shouldn't really be surprised if not everyone agrees with you. E.g. telling people to "just get on with it" can easily put some people's backs up, particularly if they have been trying hard and not doing as well as they hoped.
I’m not going to say anything more on this subject.
Apologies if I sounded sarcastic. I am me and I am always looking for tips and advice . Could you share some of your ideas or your aims ? How do you get on with it successfully as many of us relapse or find we are eating the same foods -hence boredom and frustration. Do you exercise and have you found a particular eating plan helpful . I just eat 3 meals a day and try not to snack but others eat by food grouping. What is working for you ?
I didn’t mean you. You’ve got a great positive name!
No bread works for me plus exercise inc weights. I go through phases of craving carbs and sweet stuff and sometimes I give in, but I’m not too overweight really, I want to lose a stone before summer, so my alcohol consumption must decrease a bit, but I think I’m on track!
