Oh my goodness Gary that's taken me down memory lane !!
Have you ever seen the Robert Opie books ? I have the 1950s one and the memories it brings of all the things we had just like your list He does 60s 70s too they are fantastic books well worth buying
What about Ajax and Vim ???
Oh don't get me started I'll be here all day reminiscing
I read a book once called Pompey in which it purported that some sailors' wives would put a box of OMO washing powder in the window when their men were away, to signify 'Old Man Out'. I'm not sure whether it's anything more than urban legend but I did smile when my mum told me she used to use it.
Well.....being of the older generation here I wonder if anyone can remember these items not all cleaning related though:-
Eucryl tooth powder in a tin, Malt cod liver oil, Omo (to which I had a bad skin reaction), blancmange, junket, silver sixpences in the Christmas pudding, Gumption for cleaning the bath .....
My mum used drive that was the best at washing clothes. The whites gleamed on the wading line in summer. We (my sisters and I) soaked our dirty dolls clothes in too much of it 😡 this ruined them there were holes afterwards.
