After the disappointment on friday of having today's operation cancelled i have recently taken a call from the admissions office and i'm booked in for the 29/6, next tuesday. That is such a relief, now to keep my fingers crossed this doesn't get cancelled too πππ
Thank you to everyone who has helped me through a few very difficult days and for all the commiserations and best wishes sent too. You are all such lovely people xx

That is a really good result on rescheduling. I wonder if they had a cancellation. At least you can rest a little easier knowing that it is not so far away π
Thanks Bee_bop. A friend works with my knee surgeon so i had a bit of insider help. I'm so grateful for however the new appt came about but i have been assured they didn't kick anyone out to put me in π. Its a huge relief as i'm self employed and all my work was rescheduled to fit the op in xx
Sorry I missed your previous posts, I've not been very active on here lately... glad it's been rescheduled.
My uncle had his hip replacement cancelled twice and was in so much pain that my aunt arranged to pay for it privately - she rang up to take him off the waiting list and the lady who picked it personally arranged for him to have it done privately (at the place they were looking at) but paid for by the NHS!
That is great news- to have been given a date so quickly- and you can get your knee operation done and have the rest of the summer to recover from itAs you never know these- not days when you have a date cancelled like that ,how long it is going to take to get another one and get your treatment done! What a relief for you!I know there is an enormous backlog of operations and treatments the nhs now has due to
covid- not withstanding the ten years of austerity we had before that.I was listening to Gabor Mate being intervied the other day and he refered to research data he had been looking through in preparation for his next book that estimated that austerity was responsible for around 10.000 deaths!
Thanks Houndsleap, I'm self employed so it was going to be a nightmare to rearrange things that had already been rearranged to fit the op in, or i would have had to put the op off til september! π Being in limbo til yesterday was agony!
It annoys me watching the news and hearing both of the backlogs and in the case of gp's that they are back to normal service. I don't know what land they are living in but its not this one. The powers that be just haven't got a clue xx
Thanks Moreorless. I've been doing then since my pre-op assessment (apart from the weekend) back on them now though) they'll be second nature by the op π xx

I had mine two months ago. Hope yours happen. Initially very painful but I can now get out and about. Do as your told, keep taking the painkillers and do your exercises. I found ice a great help ( and in my G and T ) Good luck and please message me if you want to compare notes. X
Well done on being out and about Agininghippy and thank you for the advice. I keep hearing the physio exercises are really important and the pre-op paperwork suggested starting them straight away which i have been doing. I'm good at preventive pain medicating, i've been on them more than off over the last 10 years!
Thank you the offer, i might just take you up on that ππ x
Sorry for not responding to your post earlier springersrule as I have been flat out on the work front today. I am absolutely delighted for you. Your new found positivity shone through but itβs great to see that rewarded with such a quick turnaround. Iβm sure things will be okay for next week and you will be there and ready for whenever it happens, Go Girl! πx
Thank you Dave, you always know what to say to put a smile on my face - i'm still catching up with sleep so it can droop a bit now and then π.
I found out that luck was on my side on monday. As they were chatting about how and when they could bring me back in, a cancellation came through on the phone so the slot became mine. Fate in action maybe!?
Oh i'm definitely ready and my friend Joy has offered to take me in at the early hour so all prep is already in place ππ. Just ticking off the days again now xx
As you say fate in action and brilliant that you have everything so well planned. I am here counting down with you and keeping everything crossed that everything goes ahead as planned this time πx
That's wonderful news I can imagine just how you are feeling as I have been waiting since December for my knee replacement and I will be over the moon to get a date Wishing you all the very very best and hope you have a speedy recovery
Thank you so much Cat. The waiting is purgatory isn't it. For me it will be 11 1/2 months since i fractured the knee end of my femur and made a mess of the meniscus. It's not been an easy ride but i'm glad i'm nearing the end of this part and will be recovering and back to normal soon π
I hope you get a date soon. Have they told you when its likely to be? I was told back in march when elective surgery restarted that i was in the 'within 3 months' category xx
Oh you poor thing it sounds so painful so glad that at last you will get it done that's such a long time I wish you loads of luck and happiness for when you are pain free
No no idea yet they have just told me they are catching up I live in hope
