I am not one for either Reality TV, or football either. Anyways I was watching the Poland vs England World Cup Group Game the other day. I have tended to watch England vs Poland games since one years ago when theate Brian Clough said the Polish goal keeper was a clown. The "clown" went on to save a handful of goals.
Anyway the game became quite dull and I started flicking channels and came across "My 600lb Life" featuring a man called Robert. What made me pause was the massive swellings on his legs - apparently they were over 100lb! This contributed to his 800lb+ mass. In one section he fell and needed two teams (paramedics/firemen) to get him up. He was also addicted to pain killers. By the end of the program he was in hospital on a low calorie diet and having the pain killers reduced.
I looked out for the next program but couldn't find it. Does anyone know if he got weight loss surgery?
One thing that I cannot get my head around is the "enablers" who supply those with limited mobility many 1000s of calories per day.

Hi MichaelJH and welcome to tthe WL forum. I see that you've been member of other HU communities would you like to join us or are you just visiting? Whichever you chose is fine by us.
Hi.. I actually joined this forum quite a few years ago mainly to get ideas and support someone trying to lose weight (partially successful). So I basically just drop by.
Hey Michael, I'm sorry to say he died during the filming of 600lb life. A heart attack in hospital I think 😒
With the number of channels and repeats both programs on Robert appeared consecutively. With being in a DTA bed and lunchtime approaching I slightly lost the thread of the program. If I got it right he had dropped to about 35 stone from 60 stone. This I think included removing the "mass" from his leg. In addition to being morbidly obese he had an addiction to painkillers and I wonder if this was handled correctly?
I think the morbidly obese need help far earlier. One in the area succumbed to CovID in February but they had gone to being morbidly obese over 15 years ago. The issues are complex as there often are various mental health issues at play. TBH I have no idea what the answer is.
From what I've seen Dr Now does the very best for his patients and refers them for therapy for their mental health. The sad fact is, the bodies' of his patients are under a huge amount of stress because of the weight and sadly some of them have left things too long, and their heart just gives out 💙
