Intermittent Fasting
Hi Penmick - I have done the 16/8 intermittent fasting along with running around 10 miles a week and have lost a few pounds. I don’t eat until 11am and stop at 7pm. I don’t know anything about the lengthier fasting but this seems to be working for me. Don’t ask me how it works- I’m just experimenting with it!
Hello Bomoao and welcome to the weight loss forum
I'll give you the link I've given Penmick for our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/weight-l... where you'll find everything you need. I recommend starting with the Daily Diary and a weekly weigh in.
All the best
Hello and welcome to the forum, Penmick
You'll find members with all sorts of eating patterns and the best place to go is the Daily Diary to see what, and how, people are planning their meals. For myself, I eat two meals a day, usually around 1 and 7, but that can vary. I don't really think of it as fasting, just eating when I'm hungry. I changed what I was eating, considerably reducing carbohydrates; once I did that, I didn't feel the need for three meals a day so it came naturally from what I was eating and how satisfied it made me.
You'll find everything you need to use the forum by following this link healthunlocked.com/weight-l... to Pinned Posts: that includes the Diary, weigh in and other forum activities so have a look through all those posts and then you'll know what's on offer.
Active participation is key to success so I hope we'll see you joining in around the forum
I’ve read quite a bit about intermittent fasting recently and have been doing at least 16:8 (sometimes 18:6, sometimes 20:4) every day since mid august last year.
Hi N-o-r-d-i
I love intermittent fasting, I am going to get back into it next week. How much weight have you lost and how do you think intermittent fasting helps you?
I hope I’m not being to intrusive.
Nothing but a cup of tea before 11am and then nothing again after 7pm. Although not set in stone I do this most days. I am also on LCHF. I don't count anything just none or very little potatoes , pasta, rice etc. Good luck.
For me, I view intermittent fasting as a modern way of bringing to peoples awareness that we must stop all snacking. Eat your two or three meals using whatever dietary approach you feel is healthy and then absolutely no snacking, not even " healthy" things like fruit or diet snacks. Eat or drink ( black tea, coffee or water is fine} absolutely nothing outside of your meals, the idea is to allow insulin levels to drop for a sustained period of time which will naturally occur if you don't consume calories after dinner .
Hey Penmick
I have been doing intermittent fasting for sometime. I am by no means an expert and it’s worthwhile doing some research. I normally eat lots of vegetables and fruit leading up to it. I then spend a week eating with a large window 16 fasting 8 hours eating which works out at eating from 10am to 6pm which is normal for me.
Once I’m comfortable I close the window for eating slightly- to 10.30 to 530 depending on how I feel I may again make it shorter 11am to 5pm
I don’t normally go any further than 18-6 some people do 20-4
But I have never done this.
What I find is, I lose weight without changing what I eat, but when I eat only healthily foods. I feel wonderful.
I am not a consultant or an expert I can only tell you about my own experience.
I hope this is helpful. This maybe a useful read
