It's been good so far food wise but after last few days don't know how to cope, my dad was taken into hospital Tuesday he's had tests and they have found something, phoned me to make a appointment for me to go in for the results, we are thinking the worse after all that has been happening, last night all I wanted to do is eat which I resisted but I don't know how long I can with the stress of it all but I am going to try xx

Oh I am sorry to hear that ☹️ Stress and anxiety can so easily trigger over eating, it’s a biological response rather than willpower, perfectly normal and understandable. I would suggest that meal planning is extra important, you need to take good care of yourself to deal with these issues.

Hope all is well and not as bad as you are fearing

That's very worrying for you. It will be helpful for you to be with your dad, as a support and because you probably won't take everything in but you'll remember more, between you.

As for eating, yes, it will probably be a bit haywire for a while. Think about what would be a filling small meal e.g scrambled eggs with a bit of cheese and ham thrown in and/or some frozen veg on the side - something that will be on the plate in a few minutes and will keep you feeling full. If you're going to be waiting around at hospital visits, have a few nuts or chunks of cheese or a full fat yoghurt - you're unlikely to get anything very nutritional in a hospital cafe, unfortunately. Then, when you get a breathing space from what you need to deal with immediately, try and do some planning and batch cooking so you have your own ready meals in the freezer.

My best wishes to you and your dad. Come and have a chat on Nutty Natterings any time you want. You'll find it in Pinned Posts.

Aw I am so sorry to read about your dad, it must be very worrying, when you go to the hospital I would take a pen and pad in case you want to jot stuff down, it is so easy to forget stuff when you are worrying. If you can think of any questions you may want to ask the consultant jot them down. Keeping my fingers crossed all is not as bad as it seems with your dad. I think like others have said just having your meals planned and healthy snacks to take to the hospital is such a good idea. If your feeling very stressed why not go for short little walks I find it very relaxing especially if you have iPod and can just listen to some favourite tunes. Good luck at the hospital .

Aw completely understand how worried you must be feeling, it’s such a shame you can’t have someone else go in with you for support. Could your brother not drive you there even though he can’t go in at least it’s supporting you while travelling to the hospital! I hope the news is not as bad as you are expecting and wish you lots of luck.

Yes my brother is taking me as he wants to know ASAP, I just wish he could come in, I have thought of asking if he could be on my phone so he can hear what's said and asked questions if he has any, I am feeling so sick with worry at the moment x

I’m sure your brother would be allowed on the phone as the hospitals FaceTime families when the patient has covid, perhaps ask as soon as you get there or if the appointment is not too early perhaps you could phone in advance and check if your suggestion is possible. I think it’s a really good suggestion You won’t really know unless you ask. Perhaps try and just put everything out of your mind this evening could you just watch a film so it takes your mind off everything or have a soak in the bath! Sometimes if you write your worries down then just rip up the paper you might rid yourself of some of the anxiety. I really feel for you and will keep my fingers crossed. Best wishes.
