Embrace the joy. 12 pounds is a significant amount that can't be lost by accident.

Take the energy you're feeling and get ready to work on the next pound and then the next...

As the formula works, just keep going. Well done you. 😄

Well done Seangold ! That’s a great start. I lost weight calorie counting, and I maintain now by just keeping an eye on portion size, having used what I learned from calorie counting over a couple of years to gauge the right amounts. Now and then I weigh foods and do a check because portion size creep can steal up on you! So keep going and good luck!

Fantastic result great news to hear, thanks for sharing

Fantastic, this is motivating. I have gained some in my first week. Need a lot of tweaking to whatever I did in the last week.

Hi Charl33 , I started calorie counting a few months ago and found I had to be careful about cooked vs uncooked weight when I was recording.

200g of uncooked rice is a lot more than 200g of cooked rice with all the water it absorbs. Meat looses weight as it cooks, so becomes more calorie dense (100g of cooked roast beef has more calories than 100g of uncooked).

If you're using an app try to make sure you can tell if the values its giving are for cooked or uncooked foods.

Thank you UnitedRed, your explanation helps. I didn’t know about the difference between raw and cooked food. May I ask what app if any you use?

No problem, I use the free version of an app called "LoseIt!" - which is pretty good and with most foods you just have to scan the barcode and it gives you nutrition details.

For my first week or two I was eating loads of rice and pasta because I was going by uncooked weight, but you get used to the smaller portions!

Good luck.

Well done!
