It has been many moons since I posted but with the news today that if you diet for a year your body adjusts and you will keep the weight off, it seems like a good time to check in. I've now been on this healthy eating kick for a year. My original target was to lose 10kg so that I would be eligible for a kidney transplant and so far I've actually lost 20kg. My health has deteriorated and I've had to cut my teaching to three days a week but I can console myself that I would feel even worse if I hadn't lost the weight. I had a check up call from the transplant nurse a few weeks ago and when she worked out how much weight I'd lost she was full of praise- which was encouraging. Still waiting for a transplant though!
I've managed to crack some ribs (long story beginning with my mum's mussel risotto and food poisoning and ending with me passing out and falling head first into the bath!) So exercise is a bit of a chore at the moment.
I just want to say to anyone new to this site if I can lose weight you can too. I've still got a good few kg to go until I reach my ideal weight but im ready to carry on.
Keep up the good work everyone. Xx

Wow, you've done so well. Many Congratulations on losing 20kg - that is brilliant. I can understand how pleased the transplant nurse was, and I really hope a transplant will be available to you soon.
So sorry to hear you got food poisoning from your Mum's Mussel risotto and ended up with cracked ribs - that is awful. I hope you are recuperating ok. It must be quite painful.
You're sounding positive about carrying on, and I hope you have a great week ahead and continued success with your goals. Hope the transplant will come up soon.
Welcome back, nice to hear from you although I have to say it sounds as though you've had a torrid time. Well done for keeping the weight in check, hopefully you wont have to wait too much longer for your op. Great to hear from you.
Helloo! I saw that article too. I was wondering if someone would mention it on here. There's hope for all of us! If we keep it up for a year. Apparently.
It's amazing to have lost so much weight - 20kg is massive. It's exactly as you say - imagine where we'd be if we hadn't lost the weight. I know you're suffering but there's hope if you can get a transplant, and you're in the best possible position for it now. And maybe you can encourage your mum to avoid making you any more seafood surprises. Good luck for the last few lbs - I have every faith in you 😊
