Hi , My name is Richard Stones , a 52 year old bus driver who supports Leeds United and loves Social media , walking and having a great time .

My daughter has left school now back in March and waiting to go to collage in September . Since approx in February she has lost nearly four stones ( she wanted to look good for the school prom you see for Xmas ) I’m really proud of her .

So after failing ,going to Slimmers World, I’m now trying to lose weight by counting calories myself during being furloughed.

My start weight was 19.6 on 28th May

Today I’m 18.12 which I’m very pleased with . I am 6ft 1” so I am classed as morbidly obese and want to reach 17.5 if I can .

Looking forward to losing more with you all . I haven’t been hungry since sticking to 1300 calories a day either x

Well done to your daughter and your fab loss so far. Perhaps you could incorporate some of the things she did to lose weight into your life - I’ve always found it’s much easier if everyone in the family is eating the same things! It’s much easier when you have the support too. 1300 calories seems a little low for your weight/height - I a 5”0 women around 135 lbs and I eat 1300 kcals a day, loosing 2lbs a week!! You should check with the NHS bmi calculator, which gives you a calorie range to stick to. You’ll be surprised how many calories you can eat and lose weight sustainably. Good luck

My daughter drinks water all the time so she has an advantage there ! I have cut down drinking now and it’s showing . I want to lose fast .

I find I’m not getting “ hungry signs “ to my brain but I feel I should be eating a little at meal times .

I had a vegetarian curry yesterday for 250 calories because I added reduced fat coconut milk . It was nice and filling .

Of course, losing fast would be amazing but it’s better you lose the weight and keep it off long term. You should aim for anywhere up to a 2lb loss a week, but you might see bigger losses at the start of your journey. Eating too few calories will be unsustainable, and unfortunately you may end up giving up/gaining weight back. I really would suggest recalculating your calorie totals - if you can eat more food and still lose the weight, then why not!! Not eating enough does more harm than good

I’m determined I won’t put it back on ! The only way this will happen is if I stock my cupboards up with high sugar content foods . I wasn’t motivated before my daughter started losing weight . Nice to have competition but I know she’ll win .

Great having banter about slimming meals like I told her about “corgette pizzas” .. having one for lunch today . 200 calories Approx .

Hi Richard, you need to realise that weight loss for a teenage girl and a more mature man is very different. As a teenager, I was very proud of the fact that I could lose a stone in a fortnight and did so regularly. As we age, it gets more difficult and we often have to look at different methods to achieve results.

I'm afraid 1300 calories is starvation level for you, as you should be eating at least twice as much. You may lose weight initially, but then your body will lock down it's fat stores and reduce your metabolism to compensate for what it perceives to be a famine. This also makes maintenance of weight loss extremely difficult, as you'll need to eat even less.

Most of the major slimming clubs and calorie counting diets are based on low fat, high carb, which is the opposite of what our bodies need. I'm going to give you some links below, as a site glitch is preventing me from adding more than one to each post. Here's the first healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I would also suggest you join our daily diary to see what others are eating.

Richard, I have to say I agree with moreless . If Slimming World didn't work for you, why would a home version of Slimming World work for you?

I'm about your age (56) and was around 20 stone last year. I'm now under 13 stone by following a LCHF process as moreless describes.

Do read around the topic. I conjecture that the 1,300 calorie plan you outline might become scuppered depending on what type of food those calories consist of.

Whatever route you choose, good luck with it.

I never stuck to the plan that’s why !

I’m making more of an effort now .

I understand. Effort is one thing, but it's good to follow a process that makes it easier rather than harder. There are methods to reduce hunger pangs and cravings. Lots here on the forum to read and digest (so to speak).
