It’s my birthday tomorrow, the ripe old age of 47, and I am the heaviest I have ever been for any other birthday (even when I was 37 weeks pregnant 12 years ago). Lockdown has been especially hard and the weight crept on. A positive this week is that I actually lost 1lb (and I’ve noted this on Saturday weigh in 😀). My aim is to be fitter and healthier by the time the next one rolls round.

Best wishes for your birthday and here's looking forward to a good year ahead
To get the best out of the forum, why not get into the habit of using the Daily Diary? It's a great help with planning, as well as being very sociable, with plenty of tips and ideas.
I don’t know how to add foods that I eat in there so I gave up. It’s not really straight forward (either that or I’m doing something wrong) but I was trying to add salmon and I could find hundreds of types of salmon but not fresh, poached salmon 🤦♀️. So gave up on that one. And do you actually need to weigh everything you eat??
Hi, the Daily Diary is where members say what they plan to eat each day, and what exercise/activity. It doesn't involve any looking up. Like all our activities it's in Pinned Posts. If you click on this link healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... you'll find it's the fifth on the list, after Welcome Newbies etc.
If you're counting calories, you do need to count everything. Some people use an app: I used to keep a notebook which soon filled up with all the regular ingredients I used.
If you don't want to count anything (and plenty of members don't), you could base your meals on this phcuk.org/wp-content/upload... - an easy, two page guide to building your diet around whole foods, home cooked and avoiding processed stuff. Print this out and keep it in sight when you're cooking and planning your shopping list and you won't go far wrong
I see you haven't been here since you joined a month ago. There is so much here to help you on your way so please click on that link I've given you for Pinned Posts and scroll through them. You'll find the weekly weigh in there: why not join today?
Happy Birthday for tomorrow, and well done on your first loss, stick with us and who knows what you could be weighing in next birthday! x
Happy birthday for tomorrow 🥳🥳.
Well done on losing that lb. lockdown has certainly been a hard time for a lot of us but we will get through it.
Have a great day tomorrow and focus on the good times. Xx
Happy birthday Ruby1973 . 🍰🍾🥂 Have a lovely day and just think of 47 as the year when you'll feel fitter and younger than you did at 46. It really can be done, and lots of folk on here will be around to cheer you on.
I was 48 when I reached my heaviest weight, 24 stone 8 lbs (156kg). A few ups and downs later, aged 55 I've just got down to 14 stone, if you had told me then where I'd be now I wouldn't have believed you! It's never too late to start, and there is a load of help available, including a bunch of really supportive folk on here. Good luck!
Happy birthday 🥳. Well done for loosing weight. I hope you have an amazing day, I am new here so not much advice from me. Keep well.
Happy Birthday 🌈
Ruby we are all in the same boat you are obviously being positive and already started well done
Happy Birthday Ruby.... your post rings true to me in so many ways I too am 47 this month and yes I too am heavier than when I was pregnant this occurred to me yesterday and I thought thank god I'm doing something about it, and you are too your taking back control of yourself and saying no more. Be kind to yourself, and your body reward it for bringing yourself and your family this far look at all the good things it has achieved.. it deserves to be given healthy food and exercise that you enjoy.... try to fit in a walk if you can and take the time to appreciate your surroundings and all the good things that you have.
You are not alone there Ruby1973, I'm nearly 59 and at my heaviest .
This lockdown has not helped as our routines are so different .
I'm sure with the supporton here you will get results.
Have a nice week.
Well done on your loss.
Gary
Happy Birthday for tomorrow Ruby, well done for your weight loss😊
Hi Ruby1973 I’m 47 and am here again hoping to be much healthier when I hit 48 in September. I need to keep at it as I’ve been to yo yo ing most of my adult life but bouncing higher each time - this last time I’ve managed to restart before putting all back on ( and more) and I think the answer is to use the support here more proactively.
Good luck 😉
Happy Birthday for yesterday. It was my birthday on Friday. I had a good dieting day. Until I demolished three quarters of a box of posh Thorntons chocolates which were yummy. It was also my wedding anniversary the day before and I discovered that champagne goes well with quite a variety of savoury food.
Which is why I didn't dare weigh in yesterday, Saturday. I just couldn't face the scales !
Oh, and we got a Chinese Takeaway on Saturday night. Which was lovely and I washed it down with two bottles of beer. I had the remainder of the sweet and sour, cold for lunch today. With the rest of the crispy duck and pancakes. The prawn crackers were nice too.
Hope you had a nice birthday. Good luck with your weight loss. I'm now 53 and the heaviest I've ever been. I would need to lose weight to just be, 'overweight.' I'm ashamed of how high my BMI is.
Anyway, I will press on with my diet and exercise efforts. Good luck to you too.
Keep strong and keep going.. You will get there
Well done that’s going in the right direction good luck
