Hi, I did the Diet Doctor 2 week keto challenge, it was brilliant, the food was lush, still eat it regularly now. Would you like to join our weigh in today? Here's the link, I hope to see you there :-) x

Do they Taylor the food to you individually based on what you like to eat etc ? Is it expensive? Xx

It's free, just google Diet Doctor, I don't think they tailor it but there's so much food I think you'll manage fine just leaving out anything you don't like? :-) x

I had found custom keto diets where they make the plans for you for 2 months but that’s £40 wasn’t sure if it was worth it !! Xx

If you want that sort of care, I'd still recommend diet doctor. They have a paid for plan, which is $10 (around £8) a month, but the first 30 days is free. That's plenty of time to decide if you want to continue, and indeed to learn enough possibly to feel confident doing it on your own.

It's a very ethical site, they are providing a ton of information free and are literally saving lives. The advice you would get from there would be much better than some much more expensive, fly-by-night company that no one has heard of, and your money would go directly to supporting the site, which would be a good cause.

Now I am considering joining for a month as a way of thanking them for their help!

Thankyou I will do the trial now, do you have to put your card detail in for them to automatically take the money when the month is finished and then you just make sure you cancel it before that if you don’t want to continue ? Xx

Yup, that's how it works.

I haven't actually done it, so read all the fine print. But I would recommend it to a close friend the same as I have recommended it to you.

I made a lot of food from their free recipes. They are delicious.

I’m just currently trying to work out which one to go for lol hahah

Newbie, experienced and I’ll be an expert lol 😂 xx

If you want your hand held, go for the novice I think.

I am sure you can change streams if you find it's not right for you.

Yeah I think I’m going to go for the Newbie one and I’m hoping that each time I can change as I learn more ! Xx

Hi, the term "keto" is widely used and not everyone means the same when they use it. Around here, most people go for a keto level of carbs (roughly below 20gms/day) for a couple of weeks to get into fat burning mode, then move by degrees to a more relaxed low carb approach which is much more sustainable.

As Lytham has said, the diet doctor site has loads of recipes, free of charge, and loads of information on all aspects of low carb eating. Another popular site for low carb and keto recipes is carbdodging.com. And if you join our Daily Diary, you'll see what other members who follow this approach are eating.

Just a thought, and apologies if I'm stating the obvious: when you significantly cut carbs, you need to increase fat in your diet, as your source of energy: I'm sure you know that but I just wanted to mention it.

It's a while since you were here so I'll give you a link to Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... where you'll find the Daily Diary, weekly weigh in's and all our other activities. Active participation makes all the difference, especially when you're starting out anew, so I hope we'll see you joining in, chatting, asking questions and encouraging others :)

Hi 👋🏻 So you measure 20 g of carbs for the day ? And tend to not go over that ?? Is there any way of finding out quick amounts of carbs in veg etc and low carbs ?

Oooo I’ll check out car dodging.com Thankyou for mentioning everything don’t worry I would never take offence xx

Only for about two weeks. That would be a keto level.

If you look at the diet doctor and carbdodging sites, the meals are carb counted for you. And you can start learning as you go along about which foods are higher/lower in carbs so you don't get stuck with counting for long, your just buy the right ingredients and avoid the high carb ones and you'll be ok

You can google carbs in food. I eat more than 20g of carbs but am still in ketosis because I am a giant & very active. 20g is a level the diet gurus advise that ensures everyone (however petite) produces ketones. I have kept my carbs the same since January. All the slightly unpleasant feelings of ketosis have gone - I had a metallic taste in my mouth for a couple of months. I feel great, am at a healthy weight, but do not look like a supermodel because I am addicted to double cream....

Oh no I’m sorry to hear that !! That’s not good at all !

That’s the trouble I always have to ask so many questions about stuff to make sure other ppl know about it or they have had good experiences before I purchase lol xx

Did you pay with a credit card? Your bank can usually claw back those charges on your behalf.

I’m Type1 Diabetic and I use Diet Doctor, I don’t follow complete Keto but I just miss our Pasta, Potatoes, Rice & Bread.

This works very well for me, it’s keeps my blood sugars in very good control. I walk about 4 miles a day but this is the only exercise I do.

I eat things like cauliflower rice instead of rice, mashed swede instead of mash potatoes and courgette spiralized instead of pasta, and celeriac cut up into strips and baked in the oven as an alternative to chips. I don’t miss the 4 main carbs anymore, if I fancy chocolate I eat a couple of squares of dark chocolate 85% but I don’t tend to fancy sweet things anymore. Fruit wise I mainly stick to strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

I feel much healthier eating this way as my diabetes is under control, when I ate the 4 main carbs I felt poorly a lot of the time. Then one of the diabetes nurses suggested I try eating low carb, she showed me Diet Doctor and I have never looked back. I don’t pay the subscription I just use the free recipe’s they have on the site.

Hope this helps. 😁

I know that I would have to follow it completely although I love it , not my best friend in the weight department and I have pcos so doesn’t help that at all

I depho need too look into having other stuff so I feel like I’m having carbs but I’m not lol 😂

I’m fine with not having sweet stuff so that’s never a problem is more the savoury that’s my killer the wrong stuff xx
