So, In 2017 I decided to complete couch to 5k in the hope that I would worse some weight in the process. I managed to follow the program up to week 9 run 1 and the results was apparent but I relapsed and stopped completely.
This year (2020) I gave my self a weight loss challenge because I have been having too many aches and had lost confidence. I completed the couch to 5k, I have been trying my best to eat healthy and have also continued to exercise at home and run after I completed the 5k challenge.
I am so so pleased with my progress so far as I have lost 1st, 11.9lbs. (NOTE:Starting weight 13stones) I have gain so much confidence. I don’t have the weights, kettle bells, dumbbells or treadmill to use at home yet because I can’t afford them yet, I don’t have a gym membership but I’ve just been going for my runs and using YouTube videos and this has been great.
I hope this will inspire someone to work towards their goal. We don’t have to spend any money sometimes to be healthy we just need to be disciplined and to persevere.
I’m much more happier, confident and Thanks to NHS all these apps because I am so much more now than before.

Hi FNCANDOIT,what a great achievement! Well done. I have assigned you a visitor badge but if you want to join in with this Weight Loss Forum let me know and I'll send you our site guide and badge to indicate your membership here. All best!
Thank you, that will be grate, guess it will be a great motivator hearing from others working towards goals. When I completed my couch to 5k I didn’t get my graduate badge. How do I earn that too
Hi you'll get any badge linked to Couchto5k that they offer from that site itself. As I'm not a member of Couch25k I dont know what their badge process is. Each bit of the HealthUnlocked "mother site" operates separately and badges you earn on 1 Forum are awarded there and visible only on that site and same on this Forum 😄
So..as to Weight Loss Forum, I have given you a start badge which for us gives the month you commence activity and then others can see you are "new" and be welcoming (we hope!) I f you join a weekly Weight Loss team, visit it regularly each week, lose weight and support at least 3 others who also weigh in on same day we award weight loss badges to celebrate your progress and support of others. You'll see these next to other members' names as you explore the site.
People adopt a mix of approaches as to how they want to lose weight which you will see as you explore . We strongly recommend new members make use of one of our Weekly Weigh In pages and the Daily Diary posts. You will find these via this link following which takes you to our Pinned Posts section. There you will find a Welcome message, general advice (eg: internet safety)and guide to our site plus links to a range of groups which we hope will interest you as well as the key Weigh In and Daily Diary pages.....
....it can take a bit to learn how to find one's way around so please read the material carefully and also note, don't use the HU App, it is much easier to use the website.
A special feature of our Forum is the degree of support between members which you will experience (and add to yourself !) as you join in and chat with others.
Thank you, please do, it’s worth it. I feel grate. I also use Strava and Fitbit . I found both apps brilliant, and I have have people who gave me kudos every time I exercise and cheered me up.
A very inspirational post - well done! For me it shows it's all in the mind - if you're in the right frame of mind you can do it. I think we've all learned lately that we don't need expensive gyms but for a lot of people that's their thing. The key is finding something that fits in with your every day life - if it does then exercise and eating healthily isnt a chore.
Thank you, that is very true! For me sometimes it actually helps me to de- stress and it really doesn’t feel like a chore anymore. I used to run and my mind was playing up with me🙈. I would sometimes ask myself if it’s all worth it or why I am doing it but now I just run and exercise without thinking about anything. It feels so good because I’m taking notice of my surroundings much more.
Thank you, and please don’t give up. Well done on your weight loss. I will be following your progress and cheering you up . Take one step at a time and you will definitely do it.
So true! Indeed it does take a lot of determination and motivation. I am trying my best to make it a way of life. I still have a stone and a few pounds to lose to get to a healthy BMI but I feel so good now than before.
