Isolation comfort eating.
Hello, Miralie, and welcome to the forum
I found there's an advantage in only shopping once a week, and planning with a rough idea of what meals I'll be having, then nothing "unnecessary" doesn't make it's way into the trolley. It's an obvious thing to say but, if it isn't in the house, I can't eat/drink it. I've also started knitting after decades!
You'll find all you need to use the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I recommend joining a weekly weigh in and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans: that's a good way to start getting to know people for mutual support.
All the best
Hi & thank you... Would you believe I started knitting again myself! Will go on the link you recommended.. I have been working but my store temporarily closed Friday so will not be out and able to pick up non essentials... like chocolate!... now
Also plan to be more active indoors by finding some workout videos..: gentle ones that is...
Thanks again & take care..
I don't think you are alone, Miralie , a trip to the supermarket just after the first wave of panic buying showed (besides from the TP) shelves stripped of biscuits and chips, but plenty of dairy, veggies, meat, beans etc (they are gone too, now, but people's first thought was biscuits).
Can I echo BridgeGirl ? If you are comfort eating broccoli, keep doing it, but if - as it usually is - you are snacking on carby foods with little nutritional value, then stop buying them. No more biscuits during the lockdown. Take any open packets to the park and feed the birds. Take unopened packs to the food bank. Don't buy them again.
You may miss them for a few days, but that will subside pretty quickly if you can't get to them. Dropping the empty carbs will lower your insulin, and you will get less cravings.
Use the lockdown to your advantage.
We are here for you. We will do this together!
I have had two weeks self isolating, this week I'm off work because I don't feel 100%.
All I have been eating is porridge for the last few days.
Not missing food at all which is really strange for me.
The first week of self isolation I eat rubbish.
Gary
Gary, what are you doing??? Eating nothing but porridge is not much better than eating biscuits. Your immune system needs protein, vitamins, minerals, fats and fat soluble vitamins. You can't get that from just porridge.
I'd be particularly concerned about protein, if you keep eating like this for long.

Eat a variety of food, even if you don't really feel like it. Your body may already be fighting the virus - the symptoms aren't always the same - so give it all the support you can.
Hi Gary, how is it going now? I don't know about you but I can go months eating well and surprising myself on how in control I am-it always goes back to me stress eating though and I wish I could stop it. have tried loads of things but being here helps me enormously. Hope you are getting there 👍
Hi journalgirl ,
Since returning to full health I have started to eat more and probably put on more weight.
I am try to focus on the fact I don't need to eat as much given the current situation.i used to do Intermittent fasting but I don't feel at the moment that is something that I can do.
Thanks for your reply.
Gary
