You know when you have 'done good'

Just sat reflecting on 'dieting' ....'life style'.....however you want to phrase it or look at it....

I am struggling to lose a couple of stone myself......Have joined SW and they are very supportive, but its down to you really.

Not sure why the weight isn't dropping off me. Really don't.....As you get older and wiser you know what to do.....eat less move more....simple....yer right!

I don't cheat, I don't have that pudding, or chocolate or biscuit or takeaway.......

I guess it's just a slow process.....

Hi miamiamia1, you may find these interesting, as when we age our bodies can't process carbohydrates as efficiently:

Welcome 'back' miamiamia.

As we get older our bodies do find it harder to lose weight.

Eat less and move more is what's been sold to us for decades and then we self flagellate when that doesn't work.

Have you tried using the Daily Diary, posting your menu for the day and seeing if you can get some constructive feedback. Apart from the feedback, it's a good place to see what others are doing, picking up great recipes and receiving day on day support.

It is definitely harder the older you get. I think you just have to be kind to yourself and accept that the pounds don’t drop off like they used to when you were in your 40s!

You're right about it being harder (and I used to be a rake) but if you haven't seen the links that moreless just replied with, they're well worth ploughing your way through :)

(reviving slightly older thread)

This is what drives me crazy. You do what they say, and when it fails you think it's your fault.

It's not. SW is based on the nonsense dietary advice that has been touted for the last 40+ years, using nonsense science that has long been debunked. It's the advice that has taken the western world from <10% obesity to more than 30%.

Read the links moreless has provided and walk don't run away from SW and try low carb. I followed a classic western nutritionist diet for 3 weeks, counting every calorie and making sure I had a deficit every day and my weight didn't change. When I talked to a nutritionist, she basically did not believe me and told me I must have not been counting fats. I was literally weighing every gram of oil (and everything else) I put in my mouth. I was treated like a heretic when I denied that. I decided it was a faith based diet - if it wasn't there would be an explanation why it didn't work for me, but the only explanation was I wasn't showing enough belief.

So I went low carb. In 5 months I have gone from obese to normal BMI.

You need to try something different when what you are doing doesn't work.

Rant over. Saturday night in lock down is a crazy place.
