I'm afraid I've never even heard of Slimpod. The information and support I received from this community worked wonders for me and it's free for all eternity. It'll be interesting to see how you get on with it.
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Personally I’ve never heard of them/it, although their website says they’ve been around for 6 years..
I would check out their free youtube section before signing up for the trial to see if it’s something you can stick with.. if yes enjoy the 10 day trial.. and possibly beyond.
let us know how you get on..
The free support, knowledge and encouragement on this forum have helped with the success of many.. I’m sure it will encourage you too...
I have just looked this up and see it is being run by the NHS and is about changing your attitude towards food. Having the right mind set and not seeing food as a reward, is important in our weight loss journey.
Diets just don’t work, there is no long term ‘quick fix’. So what ever eating plan you choose, make sure it’s enjoyable, you shouldn’t be having to replace meals with shakes, avoid anything where you have to buy their ‘ready made meals’ - they profit, you don’t. Avoid low fat, low cal foods, they are often full of sugar to give them some flavour because they have taken fats out.
Make sure you include some good fats in your meals so that they are filling and you have no need to snack.
Whilst on your 10 day trial, why not join in here and read lots of the posts and see what others are doing. Take a look at the Daily Diary to see what people are eating.
As Moreless says, we are free and we are here 7 days a week, almost 24 hours a day. This is a really good, supportive forum.
I wish you good luck and it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the trial that they are running 😊
Edit
Having just listened to the creator of Slimpod and because I’m nosey 😊, are you doing this through one of the NHS trials or on your own?
Welcome Swonder60 ! There is an adage "if it looks to good to be true, it is", but right now I am not sure if that is true.
It has the problem of a lot of "free trial" programs, is that it doesn't tell you that much about it. But as far as I can tell, it focuses on behaviour changing podcasts, which might be psychological or perhaps hypnosis. It doesn't seem inherently crazy, and 10 days seems long enough to decide if it might help you.
Can you please come back and describe the program and the actual foods they recommend once you have got the idea.
Alright, it does feel a little scammy to me. When you go to pay, it says it will cost £99 after the trial, but I am not sure what that is for. Is it for 3 months (as it's in 3 installments) or is it a lifetime subscription?
I haven't ever paid for diet support, but there are a couple of others that intrigued me and you may want to look out. OurPath (also NHS recommended), supports a higher fat, moderation diet and the CSIRO (Australian Government) who are offering a 12 week plan for about £60 which - if you give them weekly feedback including selfies for 12 weeks and lose weight, they will give you all your money back. It's higher protein with emphasis on complex carbs, but backed by a scientific research organisation. totalwellbeingdiet.com
