Weight loss is not all about motivation and masochism - if you "slim smart" it is not so hard!
Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

My diet is good and helps me lose weight but it’s staying motivated that I find hard. Thanks for the link tho

I think that sticking to a diet is always going to deplete motivation and enthusiasm, which is why it's so important to find a lifestyle change that's enjoyable and sustainable.

When I started the motivation was the weight loss . I now maintain and will not go back to the shapeless black clothes I hid in . To wear a pair of trousers with a top not down to my knees motivates me . My knees don't ache and I can walk forever ....
