How do you stay motivated whilst on a diet?????? Asking for a friend...

I can always start a diet but after a week or a few days I give up. Any tips on how to stay committed on a diet.

By the way I’m going on holiday soon so I would like to lose a few kilos.

Hi, Hidden , welcome.

Weight loss is not all about motivation and masochism - if you "slim smart" it is not so hard!

Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

My diet is good and helps me lose weight but it’s staying motivated that I find hard. Thanks for the link tho

Hi and welcome, katywood123 :)

I think that sticking to a diet is always going to deplete motivation and enthusiasm, which is why it's so important to find a lifestyle change that's enjoyable and sustainable.

Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary.

When I started the motivation was the weight loss . I now maintain and will not go back to the shapeless black clothes I hid in . To wear a pair of trousers with a top not down to my knees motivates me . My knees don't ache and I can walk forever ....
