I'm a want-a-be bodybuilder. I know at my age that idea doesn't sound possible. However, I follow beautiful strong and youthful 70 and 80 year old women who would beg to differ. I regularly go to the gym, yet haven't kicked the healthy eating habit into practice. I am a mother of six young men and a grandmother of two little ones. Anyone, who would like to join me in this journey is welcome.

Hello, GeTsKiNnEy2020, and welcome 😊
Have you decided on a plan yet? I suggest you steer clear of diets as, by their nature, they're time limited and I think most of us are aiming for a healthy weight for life.
As you explore the forum, you'll meet members following a variety of plans and they will be happy to answer your questions.
This is a busy place with loads of support and information to help you on your way and we've put everything you need into this Welcome Newbies post. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I recommend joining a weekly weigh in and using the Daily Diary.

Hi, GeTsKiNnEy2020 , welcome.
I am 70, and I do a little body-weight exercise to prevent muscle loss and keep me toned. I try to keep fit rather than get fitter.
Getting too lean when you are elderly tends to have a detrimental effect on all-cause mortality.
Almost all of the available data is in relation to BMI (it seems that the optimal BMI for longevity is about 27) but, what matters is body-fat percentage.
My BMI is 26, and my body-fat is 15%.
