Fell off wagon but have climbed back on

I haven't posted for ages so I thought I would do a catch up. My weight issues have always been there from tubby little kid to a morbidly obese adult. In my thirties I went from nearly 17stone to just over 12stone following a combination of this weird diet from oz and you are what you eat (who can remember that strange woman who inspected people's poo!), Anyway roll on 10-15years and I've now returned back to old ways, some of my older posts show some of the struggles I've had trying to get the weight to shift, but now I've had enough, none of my clothes fit and despite my lovely husband repeatedly telling me he loves my wobbly bits😘 the weight is going😠. So I checked out the diet doctor 2 week keto challenge, like what I saw and have been doing it for the last 8 days, so far half a stone gone😁. Has anyone else tried this challenge? Btw what is it with avocado, the diet doctor seems to think everyone should eat them most days, personally I think they're ugh!

Has anybody got any ideas for using tomatoes this time of year keto wise as I have a massive glut of them which I'm trying to eat my way through but I'm running out of ideas beyond meatball sauce.

Btw can I be changed to a restart badge please nicely lovely admin team.

I remember the poo lady! I think she disappeared because it was discovered she had a bogus PhD! Sounds like you’re doing great on keto. I don’t do it myself but suggest one nice thing with tomatoes is roasting them really slowly with some olive oil and herbs- cut in half on a really low heat for a couple of hours. It makes them really lush to have with anything. Best of luck!

...meant I don’t do keto. I do do the thing with the tomatoes...

Liked the idea with the tomatoes, I just can't believe how many I've got this year, I've been picking a large mixing bowls worth every 4 days!

Tomato and mozzarella salad with basil and olive oil is nice! Lots of fats and not too heavy on the carbs ^_^

Wonder if you can have pesto with it? I've got some lush basil infused olive oil too, sounds yum!

See you there! :-) x

You can put tomatoes on a skewer and barbecue them, or maybe grill them.

This is a good recipe. Slice cucumber and courgettes. Gently fry them in butter until they soften. Towards the end of them being soft enough add a pile of quartered ( assuming normal size) tomatoes and mix into the fryup. Salt and pepper to taste. They need to heat and soften slightly without going to mush. Take off heat and cool, mix the butter into the salad carefully as it cools then put in fridge. This is a really tasty cold salad dish.

The poo lady was not a real doctor. She was called Gillian McKeith and she used to wear the white doctors coat. You could make tomato sauce and use it in your recipes. Avocado's are high in fat which is why they are recommended on lchf. They're a marmite thing, you either love them or hate them! Personally I love them. Good luck with your weight loss journey x

Hi well done taking a stand against the weight creeping up again. Sounds as if you need a healthy way of eating that you can sustain for life. My advice would be to ask your dr to refer you to a NHS healthy eating information group run by a dietician/nutritionist. In my area they even throw in a free one hour exercise session after the lesson. Diet advice here is peer to peer and although valued and well intentioned, no substitute for the advice from nhs health service. Many of us how other health issues like diabetes and artery diseases that need taking account of within diet guidelines. Good luck.

I did a course thing that was run by one life Suffolk, they didn't teach me anything I didn't already know but they also didn't help with finding me a successful way of losing the podge, it was back in the bad old days of trying slimming World (I put weight on not off😭)

Not heard of One Life. In this area the nhs courses v good. They have gone down the route of “not a diet a way of eating u can stick to for life. “ a lot of conflicting advice on this site from very low fat to 86 per cent fat in some meals, to very low carbs and Keto, high protein and fasting in all its forms and Never heard Mediterranean diet or DASH mentioned yet although some must be following it. No reliable substitute for professional diet advice from a doctor. Easy to forget this is just peer to peer advice. I followed the nhs 12 week plan, used MyFitnessPal, and nhs calorie range calculator. I have lost over 2 stone since February on a Mediterranean type diet ( with the odd ready meal, meal out and glass of wine) not prediabetic anymore, blood pressure and cholesterol, and all blood fats well within normal limits. Never felt hungry which is a big bonus. All about choosing a way of eating that fits your health needs. Good luck with whatever diet changes you make.

Forgot to say, how about making spiced tomato and veg chutneys to give as Christmas pressies?

You just reminded me that I know a lady who makes jams, chutneys etc and sells them on farmers markets, maybe I can do a deal🤔

hello! I remember the "poo" lady too.. lol! In fact, if I look up to the top of one of my bookcases I can see her book still sitting there. I loved it at the time... but none of it helped! I'm loving keto, and for the first time in my life weight is dropping off effortlessly, even though I do stray a little every few weeks. Love, love, loving it!

Hope all goes well for you too! Good luck :-)

Oh, and tomatoes.. I eat them with everything these days. I throw them in the oven with olive oil and herbs, with any vegetables I'm roasting/grilling, or just mix them into any salad, or in omelettes, or just as they are on the side of my plate of whatever I'm eating.
